Well, this IS period talk, so I feel comfortable in asking. I have PCOS and I haven't had a period in about 18 months. On Sunday though I had a big throbbing pain on my left side and very very light and very dark (not even red, more like brown) discharge. I figured it was preemptive to getting my period, so I was psyched, but today, it completely stopped. Normally when I have a period it's really heavy and doesn't randomly stop. Any thoughts or advice? I figured I would wait it out a little bit and if the pain continued or something perhaps I'd go see a doctor. I guess I'm not too worried, just unexcited that I'm not getting my period back.

That happened to me a few days before this period. Then 2 days after that I started.

Hopefully you'll get a period.

Reading this thread helped...I had surgery on 1/7/10 and started the pill again on 2/8/10 after my doctor said it was okay. I've never had cramping in my life, had occasional heavy flows, but never anything that was a big deal. Had 3-5 days of some bleeding, controlled with a tampon...

...now UGH! WHAT THE HELL! I actually had to take a day off work because of the unbearable cramping this week, and my period is still going strong. Yes, I'm on the pill at the moment, but I think my body is mad at me for having been off of it pre- and post-op. I'm bleeding heavily, still cramping 6 days later...can it stop now, please?? Body, please realize that I take my BCP every night so that you won't be here.

Only bonus is that I take Seasonique, so I'm hoping I won't have to deal with this for another two months! Damn weight loss. (Okay, YAY for weight loss, but damn this being a side effect!)

I've noticed in the past 2 months before my period, I am nauseous, have some serious bowel episodes and have a lot of pain on the left side of my abdomen. Anyone else having similar issues since being banded?

My periods have been crazy since being banded. It hasn’t even been 2 months and I’ve had 3 very heavy periods…this last on I’ve been on for almost 2 weeks!!!! And the last two occurred when I was taking active birth control pills. The cramps I had this weekend were the worst ever. Hurt more than when I was in labor! I’ve sent a message for my PCP but haven’t heard back yet on what/if there is anything I can do.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
