I'm here to help...

Great Idea - I will do it right now !!

Hi

I am Janet and I am a recovering food addict :wink2:

I was banded 7/17/07 - My starting weight was 250 - I'm 5'4

Today (just over 10 months out) I am 154 - size 8 pants (was 18/20) Medium tops (was 22/24)

I got banded as I wanted to extend the years that I have left on this planet and to do that I knew that I needed to lose weight.

The band has been the tool I needed. For the first time in my life I have been able to achieve this goal (actually getting to my goal weight)

If you want a buddy - support - help - suggestions - Please feel free to call upon me - I will gladly share my journey with you - the journey is still on going and by helping you I will be helping me (staying motivated and accountable) and then one day you can pay it forward and help someone else.

Indio Girl: Give me a kick in the butt! I can't believe I sat in front of the television last night with potato chips/chip dip and sweet tea...(drank it with the chips, no less) right out of the bag! I wasn't unhappy or emotional, I just liked the taste! Now, here I am at 3:00 a.m. feeling so guilty and horrible. For shame! No wonder I have gained 10 pounds in the past 6 months, back to old habits.... Do you have anything to motivate? I mean, the food can't taste so good that it is worth sabotaging all of this effort!!

Good Morning All:

I had a pleasant surprise this morning when I tried on a blouse I haven’t ever been able to button up (wore it layered)and now it buttons all the way up with ease. It feels so good.

Janet, So glad you told us what day you were leaving. I was getting concerned you already left with your cold and all. How the lucky 7 get together go yesterday.

Still very stressful here. But am getting out for lunch today so that is good. Grandma's furniture arrives on Wed. Mom helped me clean house today so got done in record time.

scale is on the downward slide again. HOORAY!!! I'm at 109 now!! Lost 3 lbs in a little over the last week. My body loses like this, big losses for a week or so then nothing for a few weeks. Everytime it happens I tihnk I am never going to lose again. However, in my defense, I have noticed that instead of going a week or two between losses it's now like 3 to 4 but it's still going down. If I go for my dr's high end of his goal for me, I am only 15 lbs away!! But I am thinking of trying for the normal BMI which is about 25 lbs.

Long Congrats on your 3 lbs - and I totally agree that you should strive for a normal BMI - It's so doable !! My goal still had me above normal - but I just keep eating healthy and exercising and that got me to 138 - which I feel is a happy weight (a weight that you can maintain without starving yourself)

Janet......good to hear from you. Are you feeling better? I went out for dinner last night and shared a dessert with DH for my birthday. It was so much better than him buying me a cake. I thought I would get out this morning and walk, but my sweet mother called to tell me to stay in and lock my doors. There was a carjacker a couple of miles from here that shot at a man and then shot at the police. That was six hours ago and they still haven't found him. You know this is Texas so the sheriff's dept is out with horses and dogs. Anyway, I am not walking today.

Long, it sounds as though things are going well with mom and grandma. I need a tweek too. I am going next monday for a fill. My son is having surgery on thursday so I will be busy caring for him. He is divorced so I am the designated caregiver. I don't mind. I like to baby my grown kids ..........once in awhile. My husband is excited because he is looking forward to some good cooking.....lol.

Thanks! They tracked the gunman with dogs to a neighborhood and then lost his scent. They said someone picked him up. I am sure this was planned. It was in a gated community. Desperate times brings on crime. Oh well, no excuses now.....I need to get out and walk. Yeah, my DS has a tear in his shoulder and will be in a sling for six weeks. His work requires alot of travel so he should be mobil in a week or two. Meanwhile, I will spoil him.
Okay, Janet, are you on your cruise already? Missing your posts!

No Charlene - I haven't left (3/22 Cruise) I was gone yesterday afternoon - meeting Linda (another #7 who lives in WI but was in LA to visit DS and she came down to the Desert to see me & phyl) - We went Palm Springs walked around shopped a little (BECKY I GOT 2 OF THOSE T-SHIRTS FROM CHICO'S - SIZE 1) then went to the Palm Springs Aerial Tram for dinner.. Got home around 10ish - and my GS is sick - Here's a picture ..

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Glad you had a good day...

Yes baby your baby - that's what Mommies do :0)

I thought Texas Rangers always get their man - then need Chuck - Walker Texas Ranger :)

Fill went very easy. Interesting but easy. He put the needle in, had me drink Water very slowly and I told him when it was going down or not. He said he put in 4 cc in a 10 cc band. Liquids for 24 hours then regular food. I'm glad I did this as I was starting to get pretty sloppy with what I ate. Everything would go down with virtually no restriction.

I know what you mean about Texas..sometimes you think everyone owns a gun:eek:. I'm just glad you are safe. Thanks all for the information.

Burgygirl - Glad your fill went fine - hope it helps - but remember - your band doesn't make your food choices

Ok get the darn chips and junk out of the house now - throw the crap away - if you can't control it - then you can't have it - Plan and simple -

Remember food is our drug of choice and there are some things that we don't have control over - so if I just can't have 1 serving of whatever it is - cuz it taste too good and I just want to continue to eat it - it's not in my house period.

I have foods that I have no control over

Say theres a cake or brownie or homemade choc chip Cookies sitting on a plate in my kitchen - I would eat it til it was all gone then I would be kicking myself in the butt - Since I know this is the case with these types of foods they aren't in my house - I am aware - I stay concise about food 24/7 - We have to be vigilant at all time we can't let our guard down - cuz if we do look what happpens - before you know it all the chip/dip was gone and now you are kicking yourself in the butt...

Penance - extra exercise !!!

This whole thing that something marjor has to be wrong in our lives that causes to over eat is partly bs imho - Sometime we eat just cuz it taste good -

So next time you want chips/dip - buy a lunch size bag of chips and those little container of sour cream and have a planned treat. That way you can't eat the whole pint of sour cream and family size bag of chips.

Thats how I handle those situations - 99% of the time - and if I have totally blown it then I get to the gym a couple more time that week.

So - pull up those bootstraps - and move forward - you can't change the past it's done and overwith - all you can do is focus on the here and now - and say to yourself - Ok I had my indulgance - so now I will get back to my healthy eating - Now I know I can't control it - so I won't buy it anymore.

As to food tasting good enough to go back to where you were - HELL NO... Ya it taste good and yes I miss pigging out and eating chips/dip - cookie - fatty foods - but I feel to damn good about myself - I have so much more energy - that no it doesn't taste good enough to going back to sleeping my life away and having no qualitily of life do to being obese...

Nope Holly

you all have me for 2 more weeks :)

Congrats on being able to button up that blouse - I know how good that made you feel - and GF it just keeps getting better and better - so keep up the good work and you will see how much better it gets

Ok gang sorry for my lateness this morning - but had a few fires to put out on my desk - didn't get home til after 10 and I am still adjusting to this time change.

Had a really good time - it was good to see Linda again (hadden seen her since last July) and got to meet her DH

Here's a picture - it's small but I scanned my 4x6 and can't make it any bigger

Left to Right

Linda's DH, Linda - Me - Phyl & Phyl's DH

Linda has loss 115 lbs - Me 112- and Phyl has lost 109 so between just the 3 of us we have lost 336 lbs - when you add the 2 other #7 who have lost 100+ that's about 536 between 5 pple- we have 5 of us lucky #7 who can say we have lost 100+ lbs

Janet, Awesome pic of all of you! Well, the police did get their man last night around 10p. He was hiding in a neighborhood in a shed. He is in alot of trouble. I am getting tired of all this drama in our town. We have experienced a lot of growth and with it came the criminal element.

I wish I was going on a cruise with you. I just love cruises.

Last night had a bbq chicken salad at the tram - really just ate the chicken and bagged up the rest - but then forgot it in the car when I got home last night - cuz I had to stop at the store to get GS some niquil cuz he's sick...

How is everyone doing - I'm feeling better - my cold or allergies whatever the heck it is - is almost gone I felt pretty good today - can't wait to get use to the time change...

Well going to ck my lucky #7 thread - will check back in a bit..

Hey all, tonight is Tuesday. Sounds like everyone is doing good. Janet, I don't know about taking eq over tornado. I so far, have been afraid to come out to Calif due to the earthquakes, tee hee. Oh and Joanne, I definitely want to see your quilts as I also love them I have them on all of my beds at all times. Wouldn't have anything else:thumbup:. I don't know how to make them but I sure know how to buy them. Last night my sister brought over homeade chicken and noodles, fresh cooked carrots, homeade bisquits, mashed potatoes and fresh cherry pie. It sounds like nothing I could have but I did. I had a half cup of noodles, half cup of carrots and a few mashed potatoes. I was finally able to eat a complete meal and I was not even remotely hungry for the whole evening. Today I was down in my weight . Now I am at 66 1/2 lbs. It seems to be coming off slower now but at least it is still going downward. Janet, I like those tshirts. I bought some stuff in chicos also. I bought that straw bag with beads on it (really pretty) and a linen blouse and some earrings. It is storming outside, I just heard thunder. I guess I am going to try a cruise soon. Does anyone have trouble with sea sickness? Today I took leftover pork roast and made barbque pulled pork sandwiches, salad. I had a little pork and a salad so I did good. See you girls later.

So glad that you could eat a real meal !! Congrats on the scale moving - you are doing very well 66.5 lbs that's fantastic - Be proud girl:thumbup:

I get or did get sea sick- My 1st cruise little 4 dayer to Mexico Pacific Ocean in Dec 93 - Calm seas no problem

then next cruise April 94 w/my DSis - Western Caribeean no problems it's considered the atlantic ocean but I call it the caribeean sea (part of the ocean that hits texas coast to canun) - then next cruise with DH in 96 Eastern Caribeean - Got sea sick (got a shot was fine)- then in 97 Southern Caribeean got sea sick (norweign didn't have shots they just gave you pills - i slept that cruise) then 98 gf did western caribeean again and had no problems - 05 took the family did eastern took dramabean before we got on ship then for a day after we were on ship then stopped and never had a problem but again calm seas- even though it was the easterb section of the atlanic that I got sick before - so I am ok if we have calm seas but 15 ft swells get to me... But I still love crusing..

Well the scale finally moved this morning. Down 2 more lbs. Seems like I was stuck for a few weeks. I notice that I got a couple of weeks with not loss and than about the 3rd or 4th week 2 or 3 lbs come off. I will take it. Well I have been busy running around today getting ready for the our daughters wedding on Saturday. Got my hair cut and my nails done too. Tomorrow we go pick up DH tux and get him ready. Thursday is reherrsal and dinner. Friday we need to got decorate the hall. Its going to be crazy. I am so happy for you Janet I am sure your cruise is going to be great.
