I'm here to help...

Great Idea - I will do it right now !!

Hi

I am Janet and I am a recovering food addict :wink2:

I was banded 7/17/07 - My starting weight was 250 - I'm 5'4

Today (just over 10 months out) I am 154 - size 8 pants (was 18/20) Medium tops (was 22/24)

I got banded as I wanted to extend the years that I have left on this planet and to do that I knew that I needed to lose weight.

The band has been the tool I needed. For the first time in my life I have been able to achieve this goal (actually getting to my goal weight)

If you want a buddy - support - help - suggestions - Please feel free to call upon me - I will gladly share my journey with you - the journey is still on going and by helping you I will be helping me (staying motivated and accountable) and then one day you can pay it forward and help someone else.

Hi everyone, just checking in and reading today's posts. I was gone all day and most of the night -- had meetings in Des Moines. Today was my weigh in day and managed to lose a few more, I'm now in onederland (barely, but still I am there). Have my first fill tomorrow so am a little nervous but sure I can handle it. I'll check in tomorrow. Janet, th pic was wonderful and you, Linda and Phyl and all your other lucky 7's are so inspiring to us newbies! Congratulations again. The pic was beautiful. I miss the ocean. Our weather turned cold again. Right now it's 17 out and lots of wind gusts. I'm sure it's much colder with the wind chill factor. Linda

Well the scale finally moved this morning. Down 2 more lbs. Seems like I was stuck for a few weeks. I notice that I got a couple of weeks with not loss and than about the 3rd or 4th week 2 or 3 lbs come off. I will take it. Well I have been busy running around today getting ready for the our daughters wedding on Saturday. Got my hair cut and my nails done too. Tomorrow we go pick up DH tux and get him ready. Thursday is reherrsal and dinner. Friday we need to got decorate the hall. Its going to be crazy. I am so happy for you Janet I am sure your cruise is going to be great.

Rose - CONGRATS on the loss - That's great.... A lot of pple seem to lose weight like that nothing then a big drop - Phyl is like that - Just keep that mindset when you do get on the scales and see nothing - just know that you will be having a good loss shortly.

You are going to have a few busy days a head... But fun hectic.. Enjoy your DD wedding - We would like to see pic :tt1:

CONGRATS ON REACHING ONELANDER:thumbup: Thats a great accomplishment - Own it be proud :tt1: Let us know how the fill goes - it's not normally a problem -

Thanks - Yes out of the 50 of us who originally started (that's a guesstimate) we have only about 7 of us who still post and 2 of those are really an August & Dec banders who we adopted as they enjoyed our thread more than their own monthly...

Sorry about your weather - I am lucky to live where I do - well except the summers :frown: they can get a little hot - but living here all my life - I am pretty much use to it - I'll take the heat over the cold any day -

Sending sunshine and warmer weather to all of you !!!!

Well, GOOD MORNING GANG !!

Happy hump day - 1 week from today will be my GS 18th bday- can't believe that my baby is going to be 18 - one more weekend til cruise - getting hair cut Sat - got all the clothes I need and already have them sorta separated - next weekend pack - and Sunday hit the road - Last night I had a dream that I over slept and didn't have enough time to drive to the port to catch the ship!!! In the dream I asked a new Friend to charter me a plane to get to the boat be they just kept screwing around - then an old Friend got me a helicopter and I made it to the ship right at 5 and was lucky they let me on cuz you're suppose to be there 2 hrs before they leave dock.. Werid dream.... the weirdest part of the dream was that these Friend where Michael something the guy from how I met your mother and I think the old Friend was Noah Wiley (Carter from ER) they weren't really the pple but my friends in their bodies...

That's the first dream that I have had in a long time that I actually remember...

Ok I gotta get my butt in gear - will cbl

Hi everyone. Went in for my fill this morning. He couldn't find my port. He kept poking and poking and it did hurt when he was poking around with that needle. Finally, he sent me down and did it under fluro -- but even then he had a tough time. He reassured me my port is fine (I could see it on the x-ray) but for some reason he just had a really tough time in locating it when he had the needle in his hand. He promised he won't have any problems next time (which will be on my b-day so hopefully not). All in all, it wasn't bad, but I do have a bruse where I was poked and about 10 little holes where I was stabbed with the needle. I had a little burning pain for about an hour after the fill but seems to be going away now. Always seems like if there's a problem, it'll be a problem for me. LOL. I love my surgeon -- he's a good guy - I know he felt terrible. I lived to talk about it. Anyway, he put 3 cc's in a 10 cc band, so hopefully that will give me some restriction. I've been pretty hungry the past couple of weeks and really had to rely on sheer will power not to eat too much. Janet I had a repetitive dream before our trip to Hawaii in December -- probably had it 3 or 4 times -- I was always trying to get to the airport and was running late and then would get there at the last minute only to realize I didn't have my suitcase or any clothes to take with me! It's amazing what our minds do to us. Holly, thanks for the note -- you'll be there before you know it -- I can't believe I'm doing as well as I have. I keep waiting for it to end, but so far so good. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope everyone has a good evening. Linda

OMG Linda...sounds like the fill from hell. Hope the next time they can find your port without any trouble and that this fill makes a difference in your restriction. It's never fun to feel like you have to have willpower ALL THE TIME. I've only had two fills and they both were a breeze. I lucked out and wish it could have been that way for you.

So funny.....I have recurring dreams about being in school and not being able to find my classroom and being in my pj's. When I finally find the room I'm too late for the class and teacher says I've failed. (Maybe has to do with how much I pushed myself in high school and college to excel). I would be soooooo much more relaxed now if I were back in school.

That would be me, I was stuck for about a month and now I've lost 6 lbs in the last 6 days!! WOO HOO!!! 112 now!

Already in our June thread there's only about 7 of so of us that post regularly. I miss the rest, we had over 200 post that they were getting banded in June of 08, it was fun to go through it with so many others at the same time. I guess it must be normal once you are recovered and out living the 'banded lifestyle' coming here isn't as important as it once was. Though I do find it very helpful and motivating still.

Too funny on the dream. I hope you make ti on time, maybe Carter from ER will be on your ship!! LOL

Things are starting to settle down here a tad, not enough. Grandma's furniture arrived today so she is getting moved in. I still have my parents here. Grandma is no work, my mom on the other hand...... I am just so exhausted and got sick with a chest cold/cough thing. I feel like I could sleep a week. Just utterly worn out. Then all I hear from my mom is 'how you young people need so much sleep'. She thinks it's a badge of honor to only sleep 5 hours a night, I tell her that I just get the normal required amount of sleep of 7 to 8 hours for a healthy body, makes no difference. Getting up at 425am each day and not going to bed as early as normal or taking a nap has run me down.

Hugs, Long... you have your hands full!!

Yes... 7-8 hrs sleep is what is recommended!!

Especially if you are trying to lose weight!

Janet, you can board a lot earlier than 2 hours.. last cruise we went on they said no boarding before 2 pm but we got there around noon and got on and other friends were already onboard! Then you have plenty of time to settle in.. unpack, etc., have a bite to eat, a drinkie poo... Celebrity met us with champagne when we got on! Then you have the silly lifeboat drill at 3 pm! Oh, I want to go on another cruise SO BAD!!

Evening all ~ Just checking in. Things have been really busy for me and for last couple of days, just have been trying to keep up with everything on my plate. Work, school, getting ready to go on vacation, club obligations and the list could go on. Stress eating going on to some extent, but not too bad. Had my 2nd doctor's appt post surgery, doc says I'm doing fine. Was going to do a fill today, but he said my port was still a little tender and he didn't want to be poking around with the needle, so he scheduled me for a fluro tomorrow and will do th fill then.

Really bad day at work so don't feel much like writing any more, besides I have to be up early to get to doc appt and then get to work after that.

I hope everyone is doing well, too many posts to read right now - but best regards to all.

Linda - I had started to write about my 1st fill last night but didn't want to scare you - Mine was the exact same way - but my doc numbs you first - he poked around forever trying to get to the soft spot in my port and I too had burises but it didn't hurt cuz he had numbed me up..and he doesn't do fluro - so he just kept poking til he found it. And I can tell you that the next time I went for a fill he found it right away...

And yes - I keept waiting for it to end too - I thought 14 was as small as I would get - then 12 - 10 - 8 - 6 ya I would never get smaller than that - well - I wear a size 4 pair of pants - so as long as you do the work - it really does work - it's truly unbeleive able what healthy eating, exercise and restriction will do to a body

Too funny on the dream. I hope you make ti on time, maybe Carter from ER will be on your ship!! LOL

Long - Tell your Mom that pple who get 7-8 hours live longer and are healthier - Hugs on the parent issue.. I miss them dearly - but glad I don't have those issues to deal with..

Phyl - I plan on getting to the dock around 12 - it was that the booklet said that they don't let you board if you aren't on by 3... I think that's what caused the dream - and the drinkie poo - can't wait to have the drink of the day - I like foo foo drinks  Royal - Carnival & Norwegin - only meets you with someone selling you the drink of the day in a soviner glass

Apples - I use to have dreams that I was topless at work ... :crying: My dream book says that I was reveling too much of myself to others and that's why I was having that dream..

Good Morning Gang

How is everyone this morning - I see we had a quite night - I guess everyone was watching tv - I watched Idol from Tue nite then the kick of show this morning - I love dvr/tivo...

Linda - here is a perfect example of how you are going to feel thru this journey

As I was walking up the stairs to work this morning - I wanted to cry - a good cry - I still can't get over how good I feel - how I can run up a flight of stairs - I am just so very thankful that I was able to have this surgery - I am so thankful that I have got it mentally - and this great feelling I have about me - does help me fight those temptations (the devil) when they show themselves every now an then..

Well off to work on my desk - TTYL Hugs

Hi everyone, Well, I've been very sore today -- kinda like after surgery - like I've done a bazillion sit ups. I guess when he was poking around he poked around my abs tissue? It's kind of weird, I didn't expect to be so sore today. Janet, thanks for letting me know it happened to you too and especially for letting me know it was okay for your next fill. At least I have better restriction -- I feel so much less hungry so it was worth it as today I've hardly felt the need for food. Gotta run and go to water aerobics. Will check in later. Linda

Sorry to hear you had an unpleasant experience. Both my surgeon and his PA had a great deal of difficulty finding my port the first few fills, even using fluoro. But it's gotten easier and easier with each fill. As the weight comes off, it's easier for them to find the right spot on the port.

Good Afternoon Gang

It's sure been quite today !!!!

Well today is my off day from the gym - so I have a load of wash in - and that's about it...

food today -

BF Yogurt & 4 oz of Lamb

lunch WW Enchillda

dinner - Well it's only 5 I haven't eaten yet but it will be fish rice & veggie

Snacks haven't had any yet - but it will most likely be popcorn & healthy choice fudgecicle - or maybe these mini banana muffins I made from firberone mix - but I only use 1 tsp oil - instead of whatever it called for I used applesauce and instead of 2 eggs - I used egg beater... and I made mini ones not regular size - I am good with 2 mini's - 1 reg would be 160 cal so I am guessing my 2 little is about 100

Hey everyone ~ FINALLY, today was my last day at work until Mar. 24th. Thank God! I don't think I could have handled one more day, without committing suicide or homocide. I'm going to veg out all night and then tomorrow, work on my paper and pack for my trip on Saturday. I need a break. I feel like a weight/mountain has been lifted off of me, just for awhile - that's all I need - a few quick breaths of air and I can make it.

I got my first fill today and back on liquids, then mushie and back to food. Everything went well - course I really don't know what to expect.

Janet - I'm fine, just a little melt down, but I see a little light shining through the horizon. Well everyone have a good evening and a great day tomorrow.
