Jessica -- good going -- you are doing such a great job -- keep it up -- you are in what they call Bandster Hell right now -- you will be hungry until your first fill - after you heal and before that first fill you MUST rely strictly on willpower. If you are terribly hungry between meals you might try a Protein Shake to tide you over. Just an egg for Breakfast isn't enough -- maybe the egg plus a Protein Drink or some oatmeal would help you feel full longer. I remember eating Jello in between meals as Snacks just to trick my brain into thinking I was eating -- you might also pick up some sf fudgecycles/popcycles to help stave off those hunger pains as well -- also a sf cocoa or hot tea/coffee might help -- be sure you drink all the Water and even more if you are hungry -- too much water won't hurt -- and it does seem to help stave off the hunger. You might also try to chew some sf gum -- again chewing seems to help the brain/stomach connection. We've all been there and understand what you're going through -- just keep up the positive thinking -- you're doing great! Linda

Good evening, I am back from my adventure in the mountains. I had a great day. Yes i got a bag at Coach. I got a crossbody bag, it's small, bright pink with a small pocket on the outside too. I thought it would be perfect for our trip to Isreal as I hate carrying a big bag and feels more secure since it's crossbody style. And I hit a bonaza at Ann Taylor though I went to other stores, I was very disappointed in the Jones NY outlet. Not much at J Crew or Coldwater Creek. but Ann had 40% off everything including clearance. I got 2 pairs of capris for summer for $4 each and 2 summer tops also for $4 another top, a blue corduroy blazer and a pair of earrings. So cool! Dh says fishing is getting expensive. LOL He had a great time fishing too. And it was beautiful up there today, so sunny, clear and we saw about 30 deer and 20 big horn sheep on the say up. And I got to spend the day with my 2 favorite guys DH and DS.

Chewing Gum, my doc says no, as it produces gases in the pouch especially early after surgery, so might check with your doc on that.

Jewel, I think you are entering Bandster Hell. Can you try upping the Protein even by putting the taste free powder in your food? How about some Jerky between meals?

Phyl, you rarely find me in a Starbucks, they only thing I like there is Water. DH suggested I go there as the internet then I found out they charge for their internet and McD's is free. However, I spent somuch time shopping I didn't need to kill any time anywhere.

Good job ladies on your losses this week.

I found some steel cut oats, made them this am. Boy do they fill you up and keep you a lot fuller than reg oats. I put some nuts and Peanut Butter in them. I didn't even eat lunch because I was still full.

Hey Lori, we have a Ann Taylor Loft in our area. Just found it but didn't have time to go in.

Have a great night

Watched my 5 yr old grandson play basketball. Hilarious.

Then went to their house and the 2 and 5 yr old and I ran all over the house playing ambulance, fireman, Dr., police and bad guys, dogcatcher and dogs. I quieted them down enough to listen to two stories and we had intervals of playing baby bird where I lie on the bed and they crawl under my legs and pretend to be hatching from eggs. I also laid on the couch and they discovered my saggy baggy stomach and the 2 year old started pushing the skin up into a ridge down the middle that he could blow zerberts onto. Then the 5 year old had to do it too. Hysterical.

Then went to Kohls with 30% off coupon and spent $125. Got four pairs of pants that fit and flatter and several tops. Gotta go. Gotta get up early to sing in both services tomorrow.

Protein, protein, protein. Low carbs. When trying to control hunger and lose weight, this is the formula. Keep your hands busy. Keep the crave foods out of the house. Find somebody's child(ren) and play with them. Dance, sing, laugh.

Not that fond of oatmeal. My daughter says the steel cut are awful. Says they need so much doctoring to make them taste good they're not that good for you by the time you're done. How do you guys make them palatable without adding tons of brown sugar, butter, cream, etc.? She doesn't believe that people should be eating fake sugar in large quantities. Plus oatmeal is carbs and doesn't leave much room for Protein.< /p>

Cheri, I really prefer steel cut oatmeal to regular oatmeal because it has more texture maybe. I think it tastes pretty similar to rolled oats though. I eat mine with a little bit of dried fruit cooked in it...raisins, dried cherries, apricots, etc. Sometimes I add a handful of walnuts to the mix. I sweeten it with Stevia or 1 spoon of sugar in the raw and that's all I need for it. So it must be a matter of individual taste as is everything.

Everyone's talk of catholic school, etc was bringing up memories. I went to public school but knew several people that went to the catholic high school in Canon. The boys and girls schools were separate but we always heard those catholic kids knew how to party. I was raised as a Lutheran. I prefer a particular Methodist church here in town...but mostly I am not religious at all. Spiritual, but not religious.

Got my hair done today...but the girl that was going to do my nails has sort of disappeared and wasn't there. So I made an appointment to have a pedicure done Tuesday after work. I have my stylist do my hair straight when I go in because I can never get it this straight....it's different and I like it for a change. Mostly I'm a wash and go kinda girl and don't fuss with my hair much, so it's fairly curly most of the time.

Went shopping afterwards and came home to laundry and started sorting through this mountain of papers. It's started and I have a ways to go. If I would just deal with it at the time I get it...then I wouldn't have to do this, but I never learn this lesson. Thick headed I guess.

Time to sleep, hope everyone has a great night.

Eva

Just a fly by.... I am in Miami. It's just beautiful here this weekend. I think this is just what I needed. Last couple weeks, I was feeling what a lot of you were... blah weather blues. And I know it's all relative to what you are used to. Although I know 30 degree weather is considered nice weather for some of you... for us, it is tough to handle. And two weeks in a row takes it's toll. We go back home today and then fly to NC tomorrow. Busy busy.

My Dad is having a rough weekend. I guess a delayed response to the chemo on Monday. The side effects were just tolerable all week and last night he started vomiting and having severe bone aches. Seems we will be going just in time. He said, that until now he hasn't felt like he has cancer. He said, he now feels like he definitely has cancer. awww. : (

I didn't get a chance to read all the posts. I will catch up tonight. hugs to everyone. ttyl

Mornin' Girls...

Just stopping by to say "hi". Busy day. I know Sunday should be a day of rest but today is a working day for us. Have stuff that needs to be completed b/4 we leave a week from now.

All our crop info and acreage reports need to get to the insurance agent (hours and hours of work), and in the middle of doing it, I decided to defrost a couple of freezers. Plus, going to finish the rest of the packing. Sorting in freezers cuz want to take homegrown MN corn fed beef to youngest DS. Will fill his freezer. One thing he cannot get used to is the taste of grass fed steaks. He usually eats buffalo.

Anyway, that's my day.

Hey Party Girl...oops...I mean Janet. Everyone deserves space on the dance floor once in awhile. Happy to see you went out and had some fun, got flirted with and were peeling guys off. Way to go!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
