huh.gif Still trying to figure out this new site. Can't find my profile to try to select a permanent font size, color, size. Oh well......I haven't really tried yet.

DD & DGS will leave to return to Houston this afternoon. Enjoyed their visit.

Sandi - Water aerobics will be my exercise choice until I'm back in the swing. Then I'll hire a trainer again (had one for two years, twice a week before knee replacement). At 67, there will be no running or marathons like you are doing - very proud of you, by the way.

Time for me to take a shower and get started.

Hi peeps! Whew! I had four g-kids today 6,2, 18mos, and almost 3 mos. I did something in my lower abdomen when I got up with the little one. I just hope it is a catch. It is right where I had my last surgery four years ago. Hopefully it is just scar tissue. Anyway, we had a good time with the kids. Then my DS came over and finally picked up the rest of his clothes. He still did not get the deer head. UGH! I guess this girl is a keeper. Being a major in the Air Force she is keeping my DS in line. He is crazy about her. I know they are talking marriage.

LauraK.....yep it was a good day with the kids. Three in diapers made for a poopie day too! lol Nope, didn't get the decorating done. My granddaughter that helps was a no show......she is coming tomorrow to get the stuff out of the attic. I can do it now, but why take the chance of pulling something when a 16yr old has offered.

Cheri, thanks for sharing about your family. It is interesting to watch how those characteristics run throughout the family. We have lot of ADD in the family. From you talking about it I have been able to notice those symptoms in my ADD kid and now in one of my grand. I even see it in me. No one in my family ever sought help for alcoholism. They just got old and quit drinking.

Joyce, the weather is pretty now so your DD will be able to enjoy a little of it before it gets nasty in a couple of days. Water aerobics is the only thing that does not hurt my back. I love it. You are so limber. It won't take long till you have a trainer. I even forgot you had a knee replacement because in Vegas you never favored your knee.

Melissa, Zumba sounds fun, but I would have to borrow it before buying. I have so much exercise crap I have never used. Glad you found something to make you sweat. lol

Okay gang, I am going to go soak in the tub then watch a little TV.

Second day of almost no carbs. Band no longer tight and was down 3 lbs already this morning.

That's all it takes for me. High Protein drinks and meat, and almost 0 carbs and I immediately drop Water and weight. Got out and walked today even though it was upper 20's out. Just layered up and the sun was out so I was fine.

I have almost all my Christmas shopping done. I bought all my younger grandchildren a pillow pet and a toy and my two older step-granddaughters some cute clothes at Kohl's. All adult women are getting necklaces and earings, and my DH is picking up something for each adult male from Menards. We spend more on the grandchildren's presents than the adult children. With 10 adult children (including spouses) and 7 grandchildren I keep it simple. $30-40/ grandchild and $10-15/adult child. Everyone gets the same thing, No muss no fuss. No getting up at 3 a.m. or searching the internet for ads. Found great deals on everything at Kohl's. I really don't like shopping for people. I give them all gift receipts and don't ever expect to see them wearing or using anything I give them. LOL.

Got all my plants (geraniums) cleaned up and placed in the front window. Many of them are blooming, so my living room looks really cheerful. Going to go see Harry Potter tomorrow after church. Haven't seen a movie for a long time. Not since Avatar. I hauled out the last Harry Potter book and have been skimming through it to refresh my memory. Wish I were J K Rowlling. What an amazing imagination.

Slept in till 7 this morning so don't know why I'm tired. I know if I go to bed I won't sleep. But my eyes have trouble at night if I've been reading or on the computer. Nothing interesting on TV and hardly anyone's been posting on here today. Need a new night-time hobby. Something that'll capture my interest and keep me from snacking.

Hello All!

Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! Ours was wonderful. I love spending time with my family. We went to Andrews moms after. It was ok, but I was so sleepy. Came home and did my nails.

Yesterday I had my high school 10 year class reunion at Greektown Casino Hotel (in the ballroom) in downtown Detroit. It's only about 15 minutes from us, but we also got a hotel room there because we knew that we would be in no shape to drive home after. Let me tell you, good thing we got that room! Everyone was pretty trashed. I think that it takes the nerves away for some ppl. We also did mock elections and I got "most changed". I was thin in high school, but I think lots of people haven't seen me since the 5 year, so I will say they were judging by that. There was also a slide show playing the entire time that was pretty cool.

Anyhow, my eating has been out of control, so come Monday, it's back to exercise (i think the ankle can handle it now) and mega diet! Cheri, I think that I'm going to take your lead with the no carb, high Protein diet. It sounds like just what I need to get my weight loss back on track. I have about 25 more pounds to go. Ugh. These bad boys just don't want to come off!

Apples~ Your little visitor sounds like quite the character! haha! I don't blame you for being happy that your pal cancelled the shopping adventure. I'm not really a fan of the black friday thing. I would rather pay the extra 10 bucks or whatever. I do appreciate deals, but can't really deal with the crowds. They kinda give me anxiety.

Laura~ Sorry about your dads results. He sounds like such a fighter though! He can do it! Not a good birthday present for him :(

Well, I hope everything is going well for everyone else too! Looks like it. I'm not liking this site either. It is not taking me back to the last message I read, and it most certainly is difficult to find my way back to our thread. How do I make it easier to find?

Ok, more later. Tired and trying to get rid of this hangover. I don't drink much anymore, so it was tough today. But is worth it I suppose becuase I had soooo much fun!

TTYL~ Meredith

Debbies finger is doing ok I guess. It is really sore and she keeps hitting it on things. She bumped it this morning and almost passed out from the pain. I am trying to talk her into letting me take her to the dr monday. It's been interesting here these last couple days.

My father, who is a diabetic and for the most part blind, fell and hurt himself wed night. Then deb Thursday night, my shoulder, my mother is having really bad muscle cramps. We made for an interesting group all weekend.

I am really looking forward to getting home and back to my normal things. Love being here at mom and dads, but not the best place for me right now. Mom has way too much crap food in her house. She does real good when it comes to feeding my dad but she likes her Snacks. I can avoid them at home for the most part cause I don't buy them, but here that's another story. I tried to tall to her about it and all I did was make her mad.

I am need of a fill bad but have to wait till Tuesday. Can't wait. Time to buckle down and get my weight loss kicked in the butt. My goal right now is to get under 300 by new years day. Bout 15-20 lbs this next month. I know I can do it just need to buckle down. That's the hard part about the holidays for me. My family has always had get togethers that center around food. That's just what we do. We get together and eat. My mom makes enough food to feed an army. I've always been the one that cleaned up. Thursday I didn't do as

well as I wanted. I feel that I ate more than I should have. As I said in earlier post I did better this year than preband. I know the band will help me with that and I also know that right now I really have no restriction.

On another note though. I did get to spend some father/son/grandson time today. Dad kiddo andki spent 3-4 hrs at a gun show today. I haven't been to one with my father in years. We had a really great time. The big majority of my memories of doing things with my dad center around hunting and shooting. Something he started me doing when I was 6. So to get to share these things with my son and dad at the same time is wonderful. I don't know how much longer I am going to get to do these things with dad. His kidneys are starting to shut down. He is at about 14%. He is getting put on the transplant list and has an appointment with dr to see about starting dialisys(sp) on wed.

Sorry about bouncing around like this. I am on my phone and getting back to something to add is very much a pain. I have taken up enough space for tonight. I hope everyone has a great Sunday and will catch up later.

Hugs

chris

Chris...sounds like you a struggling a bit and beating yourself up somewhat about the foods you have eaten the past couple of days. You don't have a fill yet and that is going to make a difference for you. But, beware...that first fill might not make a bit of difference for you. Something to prepare for with the rest of the holidays just around the corner.

Those darned snack foods are so easy to get down. I know...I walked in the door of DH's sister yesterday and the Chex Mix was staring me down. It won. How did you do with meals? What I did during the holidays when I was in the weightloss stage was have something (veggies, beef jerky) in my purse and pull it out when there were not healthy options. And, I did let ANYONE try to sway me. I am sure you love your mother to peices but do not let anyone else influence what you put in your mouth. Maybe food is her way of showing you some lovin' but this is all up to you to make changes. Yes, would be nice if you were not tempted by so many things but do you really think you are going to change her now????? Let her know how hard you are trying and next time talk to her ahead of time about having healthier Snacks available or have them on hand yourself. Heck, it's better for the entire family but this is about YOU. It really does take a lot of self-control sometimes. Having fills makes a bit of a difference but not with choices made. And, Snacks are nasty and evil. LOL. They tend to slide right thru that band.

Just try to plan ahead, stay as strong as you can. Focus on your mini-goals and ultimate goal.

Sounds like you are having a great time with your parents. Sorry to hear about your father's kidney toubles. Know exactly what you are talking about. MIL was on dialysis for years. But it was amazing what a normal life she did live and how good she felt.

Enjoy the folks and safe travels. Stay strong in your food choices.

Hey Meredith....happy to hear you had a great time at your reunion and congrats on the award. Great idea to follow Cheri's lead in getting back on the horse. And if Janet were here, you'd be getting a lecture, little girl! She'd be telling you that "diet" should not be allowed in your vocabulary. Tell yourself you are getting back to your "newly revised lifestyle plan". Sound good?

I am not real thrilled about the new changes to LBT either. And, being so busy lately I have not had time to figure things out. What I did was save my last notification from this thread that I have on email. I just go to that each time and it brings me right to the last post. I had stopped getting notifications and had not deleted the previous ones. I wish that we could at least have that option.

Cheri...good going in the lbs. lost and also for finishing up your Christmas shopping (and in a nice orderly way and quickly). Maybe you could post some suggestions for Meredith as she gets back on plan. I know you had some easy chicken options for taking to work...and....your plan worked for you and you got the weight off. A person has to be very tough when it comes to cutting the carbs....not easy.

You all have a great Sunday. I am off to church, brunch with DH, coffee with a friend this afternoon that is struggling big time with depression and then home to get some more decorating done.

Good morning peeps,

Well I lost another pound..man it seemed like it took forever. I guess that is just the way it is going to be for me....loose a couple, plateau, loose a couple plateau! As long as it doesn't go in the other direction I'm fine!

Charlene-too funny about all the poop...what goes in, must come out!

Apples- this site is still bugging me...I can't find where my ticker or signature are!

If anyone knows pray tell?

Cheri- Way to get out and walk..in 20 degree weather...And I thought it was cold here at 50 degrees...It does make a big diff if that sun is shining doesn't it?

I have been doing pretty good about walking twice a day, and yesterday made my afternoon walk just in time for a big rain...the dog and I did get alittle wet, but I think she needed a little rinse anyway:D !

Well thats about it for me. Hope everyone has a happy day: :waytogo: :lost1lbs:

Hello gang, wow wee what a change on here. Just an update finals are coming and I am studying alot. School is going great. A's and B's in all 4 classes right now. Registered for next semester last week. I will be taking psych for the first 8 weeks and the adult health the second 8 weeks. I need 12 credits to be considered full time for my grants and only have 10. So, I decided to add in an aerobics class for the last 2 credits. Ball room dancing was full lol. I had some doubts about making it through this but their gone.

I have had 3 med changes this semester. Last week I told the doc I am falling asleep in class still and mentioned my weightloss during the visit. I guess I failed to mention it before. She lowered my doses because they were calculated for a 260lb women. Feel great since.

Weighed myself this morning and lost 3 pounds. My goal is to hit onderland by new years. 9 pounds to go. I did well on thanksgiving and sent all the junk to hubbys work afterwards. I am planning and logging my foods again. Starting with the basics. I have another fill appt tuesday and the doc wants me at 205 by then. Boy am I cutting it close. Since my med change last week though I am feeling much more alert and in control. It is helping in many ways.

Jake is doing awesome. Don is back on day shift and filling in for the boss who is out of town. He is working quite a bit but happy it's not at night.

I am also doing great with the 5k training. I actually completed the 5k in 50 min today. My first 5k is schedule for Dec 11 so until then I am gonna get my time down. My brother (bubba) is running it with me. My other brother (Scott) is coming for a visit and wants to do one with me in Jan while in town. My family is really starting to support me on this.

Going to take a trip after christmas with the inlaws. She has asked me what food I would like during the trip. I told her it will be changing depending on my fill. (sometimes things don't go right when I am tighter). I think I will just bring my own and tell her not to fuss over it. It would probably be just a little bit anyway. I think the hardest part is there is so much temptation when traveling with someone else. Lots of snack foods that I don't let in my house. Last trip I was so tight I spent alot of time looking for privacy to PB. It was right before my unfill. I have to really guard myself from falling into that trap again. Maybe eat at different times to avoid the excitement of everyone talking. I know this is MY problem not there's. I am just not good at this yet. I allow these little obstacles to become my excuse to give in. Planning is key.

Sorry I have so much to say. Only you guys understand though. My hubby can't understand why I need a sign on the fridge to remind me to choose wisely. Or a no fastfood sign in the car. I am training myself to have thoughts that will become automatic eventually.

Ok signing off. Hope you guys have a great time over the holidays.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
