Meredith - I have been taking Zegerid otc it's a 14 day treatment - it's an acid reducer - I would get heart burn (very mild sometime from just drinking water) it's a big pill so I take in the a.m. after coffee and before I eat - I really try and take any pills on an empty stomach - well my nite time blood pressure is so tiny (like a white/beenie some of you might know what I am talking about ;0) - I found that the only time I really would get reflux if i ate to much for dinner or afterwards and drinking o.j. at night.. Becareful - Congrats on your weight loss and almost being to goal WTG !!!

Oh ya in addition - if you are too tight and lose the weight - what's going to happen if you get unfilled - being too tight might stop you from eating and lose the weight - but what's going to happen when you get that unfill and can eat more - those lbs you lost may come back on - it's all about making good food choices and exercise with the help of the band - not just the band (simon janet speaking w/love )

LauraK - this is the reason I don't date or even look for a bf - had a guy flirt w/me at the other night - think I mentioned it - but made stupid comments like "hitting it" as I was smoking - Ya right this coming from a 60 some (I think) yr old man - - come on grow up.. Hell I doubt he could hit it he's like 280 - 300 lbs. I gotta tell you it's fun to just laugh it off and walk away - not to be desperate any longer for a bf. (you know looking for love in all the wrong places) - Plus since menopause my sex drive is ZERO..

Cheri - Hugs - I have never know a family like yours - it sure seems like it has it's FULL share of difficulties..

Ya $200 for 1 outfit is a bit much - I would only spend that if I had a special special special I mean really special place to wear it ;0) - I have really turned into a marshalls - ross - tjmax, target person -

Good Morning Gang - it's 11:40 so it's still morning - going to be hot here today 100 !!! I got to sleep in til 9:15 this morning !!! went to bed around midnite - didn't watch crazy hearts - ended up watching "it's complicated" again - I love the part where they are smoking the joint and where the sil to be see's them in the hotel !!!!

food yesterday - popcorn - 2 eggs - 1 cup pinto bean w/ham hock meat - 1 mini corn bread muffin w/butter and some pistactio nuts and lite rasberry/apple juice and water..

1 hr weight training legs and let me tell you I am feeling it already..

I've read the paper, cut the dead heads off roses - going to wash patio down then get dress and go ck bro's house..

No plans - just do what ever I feel like - did a little estate accounting this a.m before I got on here - need to pay my bills - you know life crap - nothing exciting...

Cheri - So informative to hear about how much fill/ changes in band with weight loss. Being only 4 months into this, I'm constantly learning. But it is becoming easier. Thank heavens.

You day with the girls sounded delightful and ability to handle the seizures, loving and caring.

Janet - you were right, once the tattors are gone, cravings drop off. Thanks again.

DH & I took a 3 hour road trip in convertible to check out site of wedding we will attend on June 22nd. He will take the pix for the event and I will drive alone later - so I don't have to be there all day. 90 degrees in KC today and sunny.

Hi guys~

I took a break from FB and LB for a day or two. We are also having tons of technical difficulties around here! Our DSL sucks and we are switching to cable internet. DH has spoken to them almost daily for a week trying to fix the problems. Then our computer died BIG TIME- thought it was just the power source but both hard drives are dead. DH is a big geek and builds his own computers, etc. When he says it is not fixable, it really really isn't. Everything was backed up thank God. We have a backup drive for the back up drive. Also the timer on the pool filter/heater is on the fritz. 3 should be all for now.

Dh took Nels to see Shrek and I am enjoying the afternoon serenity. Life's simple pleasures. : ) Took a nice long bath, drank all my Water, and now catching up here and with emails. My 15 year old cat, Ricky, is snoring really loud. His arthritis has been bothering him- having a hard time jumping on the bed. Otherwise he seems ok. He's just worrying me lately.

Janet~ your weekend sounds good. Love the idea with the cks. I wish I had someone here to do that with. It is all about the accountability.

Phyl~ Hope you are feeling better. I hope that is all it is and that the esoph. test comes out ok. Coughing and hoarseness was one of my first signs of reflux, so best to be careful.

Meredith~ So proud of you and how well you are doing. I will have to agree with Simon Janet on this one- it's not how you lose the weight, but how you keep it off. Be very careful with being that tight. It's really dangerous especially if you are having heartburn. I understand your urgency- I was that way too near my one year. It doesn't matter if it takes you one year and a month- really. Hugs. Just be careful.

Eva~ How can your DH not find a beer he likes at Albertsons? Does he only drink really exotic ones? You guys have me craving ribs. The reading sounds fun- wish I had more quiet time to do that. Makes me jealous. enjoy. : ) How is your back now that you are home and settled? Yikes re: the alarm.

Jessica~I can't remember where you said u were getting your tattoo. I have so many friends that got one when they were young and now in their 40s and 50s are regretting them. Some paying big $$$ to get them removed. So chose wisely. As a professional, do want to make sure it is somewhere you can cover it up.

OK all you dog lovers... I've got puppy fever. My friend whose son's dog died a month ago just got a new husky puppy. OMG... it's the cutest thing. I don't really like those kind of dogs- also think it is cruel to have them in FL- too hot. I want a dog, but just worry that the little bit of free time I have will be swallowed up by a dog. I think it would be good for Nelson to grow up with the responsibility of a dog, but at 6 maybe he is too young. Just throwing it out there.

Enjoy the holiday. Eat healthy and in moderation! Love you guys!!!

peasout..... Laura

Hi Crsti

You found the right place by coming here - we have a good mix of seasoned banders and some fairly new newbies..

On the main home page there is a food section - plus we will give advice too ;0) what worked for us..

Congrats on your date - (tues) you will be in our prayer for a safe surgery and speedy recovery..

Hugs - Janet

Laura - ya it runs in 3's ;0) - my power source crashed a while a go - I got a click it to back up now - my computer is about 6 or 5 yrs old - so who know's when it will die..

Joyce well your car should be all dried out with the 90 temp :0)

Great - hasn't ck'd in ?? Must be busy getting house together.

I have tattoo on ankle - but I agree - don't get them on your forearm - middle of your chest - I love my ankle - got it in 98 still loving it 12 yrs later.. want 1 more - but don't know where to put it - Maybe my other ankle ;0) - hell I have my nose pierced - and I dont think it looks bad - rather cute if I do say so myself :0) - but I am an Aquarius - I am a little out there ;0) I play by my own rules :0) !!!

Eva - I am headed to my bro's house but you see I am on the computer - dragging my feet ;0) just threw on some workout clothes washed the face and am headed out the door - guess I will come home shower and get some ribs - or if I don't get too dirty - hell just go to the store as is..

Thats something diff now that I am thin - I would never do that obese - but thin - who cares - don't ask me why it makes a diff but it does - another one of those head games I guess.

Laura - don't you have any gf in FL... How long have you lived there.. You need some local gf - but Vickey wasn't a friend till we started to workout together - so I guess maybe that's why it works - we both want to work out and be accountable - my other gf - hell no..

Well need to get my butt in gear so I can come home and vegge..

Welcome to crsti! We'll be thinking of you on Tuesday. Come here for advice, suggestions, support, recipes, etc.

Guess who is slow cooking ribs even as she types?

I have lost 10. Now I need to do it again. And then again. And again. And again one more time. I am not going to worry about the number on the scale. If I am making good choices, it will move. It's been two weeks since I have been working the band again...and I feel good about it. No cravings. Still going to OA. Only problem (if you are squeamish, go to the next post), if someone said I was full of sh*t, they'd be right. Fiber One--nothing! Benefiber--nada! Water--zip! Can someone go (or in this case, not go) for a week and more?

Ick. I make myself sick.

Laura, as someone who works with dogs--I'd wait a year or two if your goal is for Nels to have some responsibility for the pup. Right now, YOU'D be the caretaker. And when that day comes, RESCUE, don't buy from a breeder and especially, not from a pet store (supplied by puppy mills). If you find a pup that is already 1-2 years old, the chewing stage will be over, housebreaking may be done already---and you'll know the size and temperment.

Take a moment tomorrow to say a prayer and thank our men and women who serve and have served in the military.

Judy

Laura - beware of the DOG. My maltipoo will be 2 yrs. old on June 25. We are in obedience school for the second time. He has been getting me up twice a night for 2 years.

Feel guilty when I leave him alone more than 4 hours and hire a sitter when gone longer than that.

Also my DH will NOT be in charge of him. So, when I take grandkids to Florida for vacation, will have dog sitter live in with Gizmo.

Nelson can wait a little longer - don't do it....

Janet - love that you can go out - as you are. No longer care what ppl think. Confidence built on wise choices and hard work. Go girl.

Welcome cristi - Prayers with you on June 1. It was easy for me and hope it will be for you too.

Judy - great advice on the dog. And congrats on another 10 lbs. You rock.

Re: tattoo - our daughter works now at Four Seasons and they have a no tattoo code. She wears a bandaid to cover hers on her ankle.

Good advice, Janet.

Car is all dried out now.

Thanks, Peaches.

I feel like my face is no longer held hostage by the fat. And I can see my feet when I look down; my stomach isn't in the way. I can cross my legs comfortably. I can walk 6 miles. I'm off all but my pain meds.

Man it is hot here. Too hot to walk outside. Doesn't cool down overnight either. Not looking forward to teaching without air on Tuesday. Better get used to it. I'll be teaching all of June. Last day of school the 4th, summer school starts the 7th. M-THurs., 8-noon, for 4 weeks.

Yeah, Janet, I'm the oldest of 5 siblings, and we each have two or three kids. I'm the mother of 3 and they each have kids, so the chances of things going wrong are very high. Every family has something. At least we are all alive and so are our spouses and children. We have wonderful family get-togethers, we all get along, not always without tension, but we tend to have fun. We're very child-oriented, love babies, and love to play "Mafia" when we get together. My nieces and nephews will stay up all hours playing it. They're amazingly close for having been raised in so many areas of the country. I currently have a brother living in Redlands, CA. ONe of these days I hoe to get to CA to visit him.

Judy

Judy 2 ducolaxes - will take care of the tmi issue - I had it last week - mines mostly from not enough fluids - I get enough fat - but if you are cutting way back on fats & liquids you are going to have problems - 1 week is way too long not to go #2 ;0) got get a laxitive..

WTG on your 10 lbs - Proud of you for doing the work !!!

I agree get a little dog that's house broken - and over the puppy stage - they are great after that - with bear I had tons of sandel's chewed up..

Laura - beware of the DOG. My maltipoo will be 2 yrs. old on June 25. We are in obedience school for the second time. He has been getting me up twice a night for 2 years.

Good advice, Janet.

Joyce - Angels pretty good usually goes potty before bed but sometime wakes me up at 4 to go - heck this morning I don't remember what I did - they usually all want out around 5 cuz that's my normal time of waking up.. I may have just put her on the floor so she could go out the doggie door..

Ya I like tattoo's but not when they are super visible - if I was 20 or 30 or 40 and could wear a bikini - I would have a tramp stamp (tattoo on the small of your back for those who don't know what a tramp stamp is) Wouldn't do my back - cuz if you are dressed up in an evening gown (well those chances are slim - but say a wedding dress for the younger one) it's going to show - of if you get one on your chest - in a low cut blouse it's going to show (like Jancie on the Soprano's) don't like that - but would get another one on my other ankle - small ..

I agree about the dog issues too - cuz I it's a hassle to find a dog sitter - I need one for november and the lady I used before is already booked - and when the kids come in a couple of weeks - wanted to go over nite to the beach- but the animals..

Thanks, Peaches.

Cheri - my mom had 4 - sis has 3 - I had 1 - 1 bro had 2 and other bro zip and we were foturnate not to have anything worse than som asmtha..

How do you play mafia???

Well left home about 2 - just got back 8:30 from being at bro michael's house - stepbro brad came after I had been there 3 hrs and helped then I took him out to eat at the taco shop - had menduo - was able to eat 1/2 small bowl which really is a large bowl..

I am filthy - need a shower - and something sweet (you know comfort food)

Just so piss that my sis makes all this trouble - still haven't gotten the signature card back from her that she just fricking had to be on cking account - where is she when work needs to be done... NO WHERE - she did absolutely nothing for being a co-administrator and she will get just as much $$$ as me... I think I will write a letter to the judge myself..

Well I have tomorrow to get my shopping done and bills paid

I'm off to the showers - cbl

Judy....MOM works for me (Milk of Magnesia) over night stuff. Sorry...I really understand how you feel...hope everything comes out alright!

Laura...no puppy yet....they are a lot of work and you will be the one taking care of it. You'll worry when you go to NC and DH is at work all day and night. I love dogs....but don't want another one until I'm home more. Well the back is still giving me fits...it's okay for a day or two and then it bothers me again.

Janet, there's always one sibling that wants everything for nothing....sorry. Getting house sitters (dog sitters) that you can trust is tough. There are services available here, but they are expensive.

Joyce, glad your car dried out. Sounds hot and humid in KC.

It was a very relaxing day....cooked, read my book, walked to my gf's house to feed the cats and didn't set off the alarm..YIPEE!!

The ribs came out very nice. I marinated them in a concoction of orange juice, onions, garlic, chipolte (sp?)peppers and stuff, then slow cooked them for 3 hours. The DH put them on the grill for about an hour. They did get a little toasted on one side, but they were pretty good. I mixed the marinade with plain old regular BBQ Sauce, added a couple more peppers and made a very good BBQ even DH liked it. I used to be able to eat 1/2 a rack....can barely get through 2 ribs now. It is a nice change.

Hope everyone has a great night.

Janet, where's Andrew? Why isn't he walking his dog? Those pitbull type of dogs have lots of energy and need to be able to run. At least you have a nice fenced yard for him. Does he dig up your plants?

I had a 2 vicodin night last night. At least I slept...a lot and this morning, besides the hang over, I'm feeling quite a bit better.

So much so, I went out in the more than 90 degree sunshine and planted a lantana that has been sitting in it's nursery pot in it's future hole for a month. I also did some more weed removal from my front rock pile. All in all a good morning. I really don't want to get too carried away today because I think my back issues yesterday may have been aggravated by the weed work at my sister's.

For some reason, I seem to crave the heat and sunshine...I will wait until it's hot before I go out and do stuff in the yard....when I come inside it feels so good. I think all my muscles stretch better in the heat. I've heard about yoga done at more than 100 degrees to help with the stretching. I remember back when I had grass (a different house), I would wait until noon before I'd go outside and move the grass...it would be so hot, but I seem to like it in small doses.

We are going to a friends today for a little BBQ (vegetarian style). These are some of the FNSC people and I haven't seen them in quite a while so I'm looking forward to it.

Have a great Memorial day!

Thanks to all that serve our country in what ever capacity it is and to those who have given their lives.

Eva

Just wanted to say welcome and good luck on your surgery.

These ladies have really helped me when I feel low.

I have spent the past 3 days in the florida sunshine. Only about 5 minutes of rain. Really getting back into the book series I am reading (twilight). Finished the book Women food and God and have another one coming by Dr. Garth Davis. It is about WLS. While searching I discovered that Muhummad Ali's daughter has a Lapband and a book out about it. I will be getting it next.

My tattoo is going on my ankle. I thought with my uniform pants and socks I could cover it well while I am working. Outside School/work, I live in flip flops and sandals so I'll see it often as a reminder never to go back into myself and to 260 lbs.

My son is graduating friday. I went through my closet to find something dressy and only one summer dress fit. Nothing else. I have no dress slacks or dress shirts, skirts. Nada. I will just have to buy things as I go. Not going to go out and get a whole new wardrobe yet. Good will is just around the corner.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
