Newbie from Southern GA

Hi everyone, I'm Jaime a 31 year old mother of 3 boys. I am at my breaking point after YEARS of yo yo dieting I NEED to do something before it is to late. I am currently at my heaviest 240 :scared2: and I am only 5' 3". My DH is in the Navy and I just recently found out that Tricare approved this surgery as long as you were double your healthy weight. Well I am. I have my first appointment on June 2nd. Hopefully they will get me scheduled for surgery by Fall. Wishfull thinking maybe, but we will see.

I am sick and tired of being fat. I almost cant wear the seatbelts on the rides at Disney. I am so ashamed of myself. I don't want to be skinny, just normal. I can't even wear shorts anymore because I am disgusted with my fat legs. Other then the hospital pictures of my with my babies I have no pictures with (or without) my kids. How did I get to this point? I am hoping this will be my way out.

Thanks for listening. At least I you all know how I am feeling right now!

Jaime: Don't stress anymore. You got approved and a whole new life is ahead of you. It's the best gift you can give to yourself. I'm sure 90% plus of us felt about ourselves the way you do. BUT WE DON'T ANYMORE...............so good luck Jaime. My prayers go with you.

I am in South Ga too. I am in the Brunswick area. I hope you get approved quickly and can have the surgery. It is a life changing experience and a wonderful journey. You will feel so much better and be able to do so much more. I had my surgery on June 5, 2007 starting at 268 5'3" and down to 195 now. I could not have done this without the band. Good luck and I will be thinking about you.

You will still have the head hunger but it is SOOO much easier to push away from the food when you feel full! And you feel full with very little food. It is still a choice every time you are tempted to eat and you can out eat it by grazing or eating high fat high calorie foods. It is a tool and one that has finally helped me lose 62 lbs! And for the first time in my life I have no doubt that the rest of the weight is coming off as well--very slowly, but that is the BEST way to lose it anyway!

Start Using Protein Shake Daily For One Meal( Low Carbs)

Start Reading Labels & Be Familiar With Carbs! You Need To Eliminate Pasta, Potoatoes, Rice, Bread,& Fruit From Your Daily Intake.

Shrink That Liver Of Yours To Make The Surgery Easier For The Dr. Don't Forget To Take A Mulit Vitamin Twice A Day!

Good Luck With Your Surgery!

You Are Throwing Up Because You Must Be Eating Too Fast!

It's All About What You Are Eating. Don't Forget If You Eat Small Amouts Of High Calorie Foods, You Won't Lose Weight!

Your post are all helpful and very and I just wanted to say true thanks

My LBS is on July 10th. Nervus and excited.

That's the way to go. I had my bad placed last Nov. and I have lost over 100 lbs. I have never regreted this process one min. Good luck!

in the morning i usually drink a low cal or reg. carnation breakfast , then for lunch some kind of soup usually tomato, then for supper i tr to eat a little bit of what i make for my kids , but it usually gets stuck and i have to throw up. I cant eat bread products and pasta gets stuck also, sometimes i can eat meat but only like burger or something like that eggs get stuck too. if the food does get stuck i try to burp or i will go throw up, when i take my pills i have to take them with something thicker like the breakfast drink or the tomato soup or they get stuck

Hi Deb, Don't fret. There are lots of things you can do to accelerate the weight loss. I would begin by writing down every thing I put into my mouth for a couple of week. If your doctor has a nutritionist, show it to her/him or even to the doctor. Also, increase the protein and decrease the carbs. Make sure your portions are what they should be. I hate to say this, but try cutting out desserts (even though they go down easy) for a couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference. I have arthritis in my hip so I too can't do much in the way of exercising. I'm having surgery in September for a hip replacement (now I'll two matching). I know how it is to have pain and think you can't exercise, but remember you still have a body above the knees. You can do resistance exercise while sitting, you can do a whole bunch of things without walking around, dancing around, etc. You can get on the floor and do some leg raises, etc etc. Get all that creativity you have in your head and put that energy into seeing how you can speed up the process. If all fails, ask your doc to check your thyroid. Good Luck...........

Thanks and good luck to you and your surgery for the hip. i have been writing down since yesterday , i dont eat much sweets or desserts but i do like some salty stuff such as popcorn and for some reason that goes down . I will keep track ty

The band also takes care of "head hunger" because you can only eat a couple of bites of whatever you're hungry for! I know this sounds crazy because right now a couple of bites is nothing to you, but after being banded it is plenty to solve a craving. I couldn't imagine, either, but you are totally satisfied with just a little bit of food. It is so freeing to say goodbye to dieting!

I was banded 9/14 and have lost 54 pounds. Do it. It's the BEST thing I've ever done for myself, and as a mother of 4 boys, I know it's hard to do things for yourself without guilt! If my insurance had paid for it, I would have NO regrets, but as it was, I am paying (still!), but am SO glad I did it!
