  1. I am in South Ga too. I am in the Brunswick area. I hope you get approved quickly and can have the surgery. It is a life changing experience and a wonderful journey. You will feel so much better and be able to do so much more. I had my surgery on June 5, 2007 starting at 268 5'3" and down to 195 now. I could not have done this without the band. Good luck and I will be thinking about you. Peachy
  2. hi Patt, I am in Brunswick also. Dr Kent did my lapband and am very please. We have support groups that meet at the hospital locally. There is one this coming Tuesday if you are interested. Please come and join the group..it is fun. Phyllis
  3. Thanks that is what I am thinking is going to have to be done.
  4. This is for my Daughter in Law. It is my son's insurance. I hope you get a way around it..Have you talked to the HR person at the business to see what you can do if anything. I am just praying that when they get the one for next year it will be covered. I had lapband on June 5 of this year and am so happy with it. I have lost 54 pounds and almost half way to goal.
  5. How do you get an exclusion off the insurance. My son talked to the HR and she seems to think it is not a big deal. Does this have to be changed at the renewal time or can it be done anytime. Does my DIL need to submit something in writing to them of necessity? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. thnaks
  6. I saw you used Dr Duncan at Peachtree Surgeons. My DIL is in the process of researching having surgery. She works in Atlanta near his office. Did you have the surgery and did Dr Duncan do your surgery. The research I am finding is he and his office lean toward RNY ..not much in writing about lapband and them ..even their website seems to promote the other WLS. So needed some thoughts on using them. Thanks
  7. Find a FillCenterUSA. I was really impressed with the ones at the Atlanta Conference this past weekend.
  8. That is soooo funny! LOL Never associated the Lion in the commercial! Peachy
  9. yes! That is me. I was really scared when I started foods. This is the first time in years that weight has finally come off. So starting the food just seemed like I was going to add so many more calories but you aren't. Try to record what you eat at fitday.com everyday. Remember what Lauren said protein first then veggies then starches. I never got to the starches til this past week. Now i do and I eat fruit between meals. Good luck and let me know if I can help. Peachy
  10. Yes I was. I sat next to a lady that had not had her surgery yet. And I had gone to my son's house and did well while I was there. Which one were you? Did you go to the dinner before the meeting?
  11. wow i just posted about that ...6 wks out and doing the same things.
  12. What is causing the rumbling and growling in my stomach. This has been going on for 3 days now...I have drank and eat and nothing stops it much. Hope it is a sign of stomach shrinking LOL
  13. Make sure your current employer does not have an exclusion for WLS. I have BCBS of AL. They are a stickler about the 6 months thing. my was 6 months in last 2 yrs and only 3 months of consecutive. it could be from weight watchers, curves, dietitician (not from surgeon office), or primary physician but had to state weight and discussion of diet and what to do ex. exercise, low fat, low carb or 1200 calorie intake..on every visit report. Now..i believe you will find the same stipulations from your new insurance also. Mine had to go through SHIPS before being approved by insurance and I had them tell me exactly what they wanted. Hope this helps Peachy
  14. I use Dr Kent and was banded on June 5th. I have not had an adjustment yet. Anyone attend the support group n Brunswick?
  15. Thank you for all the responses on this thread. It has made me think maybe I am eating alittle to much and not listening to my "fullness". After reading this, I realize I am getting a full feeling right under my breast in the chest area. But like someone mentioned I will continue to eat one or two more bites so "i clean my plate" and boy that is the mistake..of course I still eat too fast and too big of bites also that are problems. Will this ever get easier? Peachy
  16. Thanks for your reply. I think you make a good point. I am really going to try to eat slower and smaller bites and see if I am eating more at meals than I need to and if it last 4 hours like it is suppose to do. When I eat to fast or too big of a bite I then cant eat what I am suppose to and so then I am hungry before the 4 hours is up. I really hope I am one of the lucky ones that wont need a fill for long while.
  17. I haven't had a fill yet and I am having trouble with the PB. I'm sure it is because I am not eating slowly enough or putting too much in my mouth. I am hungry alot now so I think I am ready for a fill but scared to get it. I am 5 1/2 weeks out from banding.
