Hi, I was just wondering, how long after your surgery do you have to wait before you can put lotion on? I had my surgery on 4/29, and my surgery area just feels raw, and I'd like to put lotion on it, but didn't know if there was a certain amount of time that you had to wait?

Thanks!

I used Neosporin for the first week, then stopped as air dry no bandages is needed. I bought scar cream at the drug store and have used it daily. I have not itched too bad as all that helped. Also, wash the area lightly with Water and non-allergic soap, or better yet, rub on rubbing alcohol on the area. All these relieve some of the itch and raw feelings.

If you incisions are red and swollen, you should have them looked at by your doc. While everyone heals differently, I had my surgery on 4/30 and my incisions are completely healed and have been for a week or so.

I suggest that you not use anything with fragrance in it if the skin is not healed over.

I have been wondering the same thing. I am now 4 weeks out and used lotion for the first time this weekend. I used my organic arbonne serum and lotion that is great for healing but am not sure if it is ok? I have the glue rather then steri strips????? Neosporin seems like a good idea....

At my one week post-op appointment my doc told me it was okay to use scar creams or cocoas butter or things like that. I have been using Vitamin E cream every few days and my scars are healing very nicely. I wouldn't woory about what you use too muc nless it irritates it or you hvae open wounds still. Hope that helps.

My band date was May 12th. I've been putting on Neosporin - Ointment kind. 4 out of my 5 incisions looks fine. it's only the biggest one in the middle ( I think that's for the band right?) that's kindda red and a bit itchy. I washed it with the sting-free antiseptic wash, dry, Neosporin and put a bandaid over it (since it is constantly rubbing against my clothes.)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
