Just have to celebrate 100 pounds gone!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, I have pretty much been keeping my nose to grindstone and trying not to get too overly excited about things, but today I am having a little celebration.

As of this morning, I hit my most important milestone in my weight loss journey -- 100 pounds lost!

I am SO happy about this!:D

Oh Fran, that is the most wonderful news ever!!! You are doing an amazing job!!! I can't wait until that day... I sat and wrote all my goals in a journal today and that was one of my biggies! 100lbs ago for me was high school and I thought I was chubby back then! What a dummy I was! LOL

Congrats to you- keep us posted- looks like you only have 19 to go until your goal... Holy Canoli!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo Hoo, a Shrinko De Mayo!!! My all time favorite monthly bandster name!!! Love your logo too!!!

Thanks Yvonne, for the incredibly sweet message!!! I really appreciate it.

I see that you were just banded last Tuesday -- Congratulations!!!

Trust me, if you exercise and follow the dietary instructions, the weight loss happens so quickly it will make your head spin. You will be so thrilled with this band!!!

People like you are so motivational for me. I have a doctor who is trying to discourage me from getting the band because he says it is not very successful. He wants me to have the gastric bypass. I believe if I go this far that I will be able to lose with the band.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Frangi, more dancing bananas for you!!!!! You have worked hard to get where you are in less than 10 months. I hope you buy yourself a new pair of shoes to Celebrate (they'll still fit after your ps). Great job!!

Hey Becky and Jody,

Thank you so much for the enthusiastic celebration from my two online BFF's!!! I really am happy about this -- even though this isn't "goal," for some reason, hitting the 100 pound mark was more important to me than goal.

Wow, do you two ever have me pegged!!! I am well known for being a total "Shoe-A-Holic." But how did that manage to even come through in my writing? And Jody, what size shoe do you take?

Frangi, How could you not love shoes????? I just knew you must! I'm guessing that you and Jody have tiny little feet. I, on the other hand, have lovely long boats! 100 pounds ago I wore a 10. Now I'm down to a size 9.

Hi Cheryl,

I know exactly where you're coming from. It's unfortunate, but many US Dr.'s don't know that much about the Band as of yet, and don't realize it's true potential.

Of course some people will lose more slowly than others, but I truly believe that if you eat right and exercise hard you will lose weight quickly with this Band. If you read through this board and look at people's tickers, you will see very solid evidence of this.

Gastric bypass is almost a no-brainer -- the weight comes off lightening-fast and with almost no effort on the part of the patient BUT, it also has obvious drawbacks (which I won't really get into because that's not what this discussion is about).

I love my Lap Band because, unlike Gastric Bypass, the Band forces me to do my part (i.e., eat right and exercise), and I really believe this is healthier in the long run.

I think a lot of Doctors favor the gastric bypass because it is almost a sure-fire method for losing a lot weight quickly, and it doesn't rely so much on the compliance of the patient.

This is not true with the Band. If you don't do your part, you won't be very successful in the long run, because it's pretty easy to figure out ways to "eat around" the Band if you are determined to do so.

If you want to go with the Band, I have a few suggestions for you,

1) Find a Dr. who is 100% completely on board with this procedure and has a lot of experience with it. Band placement is important!!!! If the Dr. doesn't know what they're doing and doesn't place the Band properly, the Band will not work for you, and in fact, can cause serious problems.

2) Work with a Dr. who does the fills under flouro. I will never understand why 100% of Doctors don't do this. When you do a fill under fluoro, it completely takes the guesswork out of the whole thing. The Dr. is able to see exactly what he or she is doing and they are also able to see the Band and confirm that everything is okay, every single time you have a fill.

Best of luck to you! And hope to see you in "Bandland" soon :)

Becky, being as tall as you are, if you didn't have decent-sized feet, you would topple over -- think about it!!!! :)

Personally, I would gladly go up a shoe size or two, if the trade-off were to gain some inches in height! I've always wanted to be tall -- you tall ladies can wear anything and look good in it, and you tend not to have "thunder-thighs" (like I have) either!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
