TLBC Clinic- Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hi Jojo, yeah I would say you should get a fill, I would say just do a half cc to just ease into it. I went about 6 months without a fill and found that I was starting to get down more then what I should and I was plateauing and not losing. I'm struggling right now with not being able to find the right restriction and I have lost a little then gained a little so I know what you are experiencing. So I would say yeah go for a fill.

Sandy,

It's funny that you say today you went 6 months without a fill yet in the other thread, you just posted on Friday that you weren't even banded yet and were going to Mexico after the Jill incident. Troll much???

It's pretty obvious there are several trolls on the forum that have just joined in the last while to "weigh in."

Two questions from this old gal?

1. What is trolling?

2. How do you spell when you are "loosing or it is losing" weight. :w00t::thumbup:

Hi Doddie,

Proper spelling is "when you are losing weight".

Trolls are people that post under false username to instigate or attack or accuse because they are intimidated or afraid to use their real identity. Some posters have several different usernames others less. Often lately on this thread for instance a person will post for the first time to slam someone else, be it a clinic, person, etc. Then you never hear of them again for a long time. lol

By the way Doddie, you are not an old gal. :w00t:

I was banded may 2007 and lost 40 pounds over the first year. I have now gained 12 pounds and have noticed that I can eat things I couldn't before ie bread, muffins etc. Has anyone else experienced this and if so could it be that my band has stretched? I am wondering if I need to have a fill which I havent done for over a year.

JOJO, for sure get into the clinic and get a fill... the BAND dosn't stretch, our pouch does if you constantly OVER FILL it... Only eat until your are full, don't eat another bite after that and you'll never have to worry about stretching your pouch or having your BAND slip...

Get back on the TLBC menu and get those 12 lbs off before they become 15

I have many "trolls" respond to me in the past...my favorite is on my profile page from Pretty in Pink...hmm she never posted before or since she wrote me her little note.

I didn't know people could leave you comments on your profile. Did you have to give permission for that?

I don't think you are in trouble. You spoke what you knew without naming someone, which I understand is within the rules of this site. No matter which side of the coin we are on, there has been some nasty dustups in the past and hopefully the firm will pull up its socks and get on with the business for what they are good at. I and other clients need them to be focused on our needs.

no i did say her name. So i guess that was a no no. I was hoping that the big changes would help things out with slimband and their customers. I havent had to call them since my last fill. I hope things have improved for all who is taking this journey with them.

Yep, there are some ugly brawls going on in Rant and Raves. No one has been evicted so far.

hold that thought. It is great to have a site that we are not blacklisted because we have a moment of anger, frustation and post something that is inappropriate. I don't mind being corrected provided I am told why but I still hold dear the concept of "freedom of speech".

Seems fair to me. I participate in those brawls. I am always admired as the fair and, well, well-spoken Canadian. I don't give into my Judge Judy fantasies. lol

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
