Holy Bees Wax !!!!!!

Recommended Posts

OK, yes this is a beehive. Yes this was in the EAVE of our rental house. Yes it was that big. The size was estimated at around 2 feet in diameter and held approximately 5000 bees. They had to tear off some shingles, gas the bees to kill the queen, let that set for a day or two, then come back and remove the dead bees and the hive. The tenant said the honey was dripping down from the eave like a waterfall. If it hadn't been full of the gas poison she would have collected it.

Last summer we couldn't understand how we kept having all these bees flying around while we were outside by the pool. Then we realized there must be a beehive close by. Who'd a thunk it was in our house next door? LOL!!!

Enjoy the pics.

My Dad was a bee keeper. When the queen swarms, we'd have to get the Water hoses out.

I once pulled 7 stingers out of his neck.

I love honey

Wow that is too cool. Last year one of the trees was being cut down. All of a sudden everyone started running they had cut into the hive. Very funny to say the least.

We had fresh honey for quite awhile my husband went and got it for us.

DMAN! That was huge! I hope you are at least going to save the wax! It can be rendered and strained.

My sister had bees in one of her walls too. They were so loud that you could hear them buzzing in the kitchen. I don't know if they were honey bees or yellow jackets though.

That is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!! That honestly intrigues me. My husband and I both had our eyes popping out of our heads when we looked at it.

I've never seen anything that huge, even on TV. Thank goodness no one was hurt, and the problem was resolved.

Thanks for sharing....how cool!!!!!

We had the same thing, only it was under our dog's house. My DH lifted up the house to move it and all these bees came out, I had to run in the house because I am alergic to them. We had bees in the air for about a week looking for their home.

OMG Penni - I've never seen so many bees together. I am terrified of bees. I am allergic to wasps and don't want to press my luck with bees or yellow jackets.

Hi Penni,

Last week, I went to visit a retirement communitiy for my inlaws. I was walking the in the court yard area and saw thousands of swarming insects. There must have been about 100,000 plus in a big cloud. I asked the leasing agent what that was and she toldme it was pollenating bees and that they do that every year. I have never in my life seen so many bees and wondered if they were some kind of hazard or if they would bite people. She said an exterminator came and said that there was nothing that they could do. They would go away in a few weeks. Yuccccchhhh!!!!!

We had a small swarm around our Koi pond and our pool last year. We couldn't figure out where they were coming from. JOHN is Highly allergic. He almost died as a boy when he got stung by ONE bee. So the exterminator came and said unless we find the beehive there isn't much we can do. They were coming to get a drink of Water.

Now we find out the beehive was in our rental house next door. SIGH!!! I could not believe how many bees there were. The picture really doesn't do it justice. Our exterminator came and gassed the bees. I was just thankful they were the Killer bees. We would all most likely be dead. Those things are nasty.

Hugs

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
