I was banded on March 14th. That seems like so long ago. Anyway, I had my first fill on April 24th. I guess my band came from the manufacturer with 2cc in it. My doc wanted to add between 2 and 3 more and I was only able to take 1.3cc comfortably. So I have in me total 3.3cc. I have a 10cc band.

Well, Friday I did liquids. This was awful as we spent all day at American Girl and the food looked and smelled delicious. LOL! That night I went to Panera and got two Soups as I was starving. I was able to eat ½ of one and a whole of another. In the evening when I went to bed I felt awful. It felt like it was sitting in my esophagus.

Saturday I ate small but “normal” food. I had no discomfort.

Today, we went to Mexican and I was only able to eat about ¼ of my food. When I got home I felt really sick and had diarrhea. I have not PB’d yet and I am wondering if I am eating two much food.

How do you know when you are eating too much? I stop when I feel as if I can’t go anymore. I don’t have the burping that some have described. I do however; feel as if I could just puke if I ate another bite.

The nurse practitioner told me that if food sits in your esophagus to long it can stretch it out and that can be a MAJOR problem. Has anyone heard of this and how can this be avoided?

I am really worried about this. I look forward to your comments.

Why don't you call your doc on Monday...ask them what they think....

Good Luck...I do hope someone else has some words of wisdom for you!

Hang in there!

I read a post some where that says that if u eat until u r full u have eaten too much. Go slow and take your time in-between bites or sips of Soup and or food. remember your pouch is small and when u have a restriction the food passes thru slowly. So in other words it will back up in your esophogus until it passes thru the band into your stomach so if u stop when u are full there may be more that has to pass thru from your esophogus that will cause u to be over full and sick to the stomach... just my take on it from what i read....

Sounds like your eating too much . My doc said eat untilyour satisfied not until your full, if you eat until your full its too much . It sounds like your LOOKING to PB ? Trust me you dont WANT to PB if you dont have to !

Sometimes it takes a few more fills to get good restriction , it sounds like you have some restriction now . So take it slow, remember all the rules of the band . Also it sounds like you eat out a lot . Be careful with the choices you make when you are eating out . Sometimes those can bite ya in the butt. Its better to eat too little and have to eat a little more later than to eat too much and have it come up later or stretch your pouch .

Thank you for your post. I agree, I am eating more and more. I do not want to PB. I am just not sure when enough food is enough. It is a new game for me. :-)

it does take some getting use to . But if your in doubt eat then wait a bit for it to settle. its better to not eat enough then have to eat a little more than eat too much and PB .

At first i would eat and eat and take that one last bite and be like "OH that was TOO MUCH " eventually you will learn when to not take the last bite.

Until then try to take it slow .

re: "I do however; feel as if I could just puke if I ate another bite.

to quote an American philosopher: "There's your sign"....

Too much is TOO MUCH....

pay attention to the little signs your body will be sending, that your hunger level has been satisfied...when that happens STOP EATING....

A 'soft stop' may be hard to recognize at first....it usually is a sense of NOT being hungry....and you no longer are focused on just eating your food.

If you ignore the 'soft stop' message....you will soon be getting the "hard stop" sign....which is what you are describing...

Great post Jack as always.

I have a few soft stops. one of my favorites is the funny nose !

It took me a bit to recognize that one . But it is one !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
