Mushies Question

Recommended Posts

I have lost 31 pounds in just 2 weeks. Wow, the fat is melting away. I am just starting week 3. I am at the mushies stage. What all counts as a mushy? I know mashed potatoes and very soft fish but what else can I have.

Great job on losing 31lbs!! That is awesome. I am on the soft solid/mushy food stage and I can have more than I thought. Of course there is the sugar free pudding/jello, cottage cheese, mushy veggies and scrambled eggs. I was also told I could have chili any kind of seafood that is baked or broiled. I'm not sure if you have the morning star brand of soy products in your area but those where on my list also. They have things such as chicken patties, sausage and hamburger patties. Any meat other than the seafood i was told I needed to puree a bit. I did that with some turkey tenderloin the other night and it was very good. Don't forget applesauce and yogurt. Also, I was given the ok on cheeses as long as they are low fat.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

When I was on soft foods I was craving Mexican food so I took fat free refried Beans and mixed them with enchilada sauce, a little bit of shredded cheddar cheese and then put a little bit of sour cream on the top. It was delicious and a much needed break from yogurt and eggs!! I also had the usual applesauce, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, cream of wheat, tuna fish, canned chicken (made into a salad like tuna salad)! I only had to do this stage for a week and then I got to eat "real" food so I didn't have to get too creative--but the mexican dish was my fave.:rolleyes2:

One of my fave mushies was a recipe i found on this site. Its a lil ricotta cheese mixed with some spaghetti sauce and some shredded mozarella. Nuke till warm. Tastes like lazagna and filling as well! I still use it today as a meal after i have fills.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
