I had my surgery in Feb and my scars had raised up also. I started using something called 'Bio Oil' You apply it twice a day and it is to help scars and stretch marks. It is definately working in reducing the scars and I have put some on my stretch marks to see if they help their also.

I live in the Uk but would think it would be a world wide oil. I would definately give it a go.

:whoo:

Bun1, (not to steal the thread), but how did you qualify, even self pay to get the lapband with a 33 BMI? You look very small for lapband, what was your starting weight?

Looking good girl!

Hi HarleyNana, i couldnt get banded in the UK with such a 'low' bmi but i am obese although not morbidly obese.

i inevitably get fatter each year and knew that it would take a few more miserable years to get near to 40 bmi and thus qualify for the surgery here in the UK. i was not prepared to wait for that to happen and found a surgeon abroad that was willing to band me now before i got mobidly obese and believe that's where i would have ended up eventually.

bun1, good for you for taking a proactive approach to your weight!

I wish I could have done this years ago.

Too bad the insurance companies don't and won't take the same approach. I too wish I would have been able to avoid all those ups and downs, mostly ups.

Bun1, I admire your perseverance to take control of your life.

Good luck with your band!

Thought maybe some of the newbie bandsters needed some encouragement. Here are my scars at 2 1/2 years post op. The only one even noticable is the port scar, all the others are pretty well blended and gone. I used Cocoa butter and pure Vit E oil on them for all of this time once the incisions could have them on. I used it every day for about a year and then once a week for a year, now it is about once every other month with just the cocoa butter.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
