Hello Everyone! I'm Brand New Here!!

Recommended Posts

Hi there! This is my first official post here.

Here's my story...

I am in my late 30's and have battled the weight thing since as far back as I can remember. Done everything from Weight Watchers to "Lose Weight While You Sleep" programs. Nothing worked. I managed to get myself up to the heights of the scale, well over 300 pounds. That scared me.

I went throught the pre-surgery ritual back in 2003 -2004 only to be denied due to a technicality with the 6 months of physician supervised visits. Long story...but I'll tell you if you really want to know. I was set with a date, started the pre-surgery liquid diet and everything. Then it happened...DENIED! I was devistated.

Well, last summer after an emergency room visit scared the beegeebees out of me, I began the trek again. (No, the BeeGeeBees is not an all-brother band from the 70's) This time I am making sure everything is done right and every stinkin' piece of paper is included, every month had a visit, and every rule is followed. I am on the pre-pre-surgery diet and am doing fairly well. I'm at the point that when I "cheat" I don't feel so good...mentally and physically.

I am married to an awesome man who would walk through coals for me. He's a total computer geek and I love every ounce of his geekness....well, not every ounce but almost. We don't have kids yet (thanks to my weight) but as soon as it's gone and I get the OK, we're gonna go at it like rabbits!

I work as a wedding planner here in Sunny Florida. I absolutely love my job and hope to love it even more once I shed more weight.

So that's me. I love to make people laugh. I think I am pretty funny...sometimes I think I am funnier than other people think I am...but that's OK.

Like I said, I look forward to getting to know you. I am excited about the encouragement that a site like this can bring. I know this journey isn't easy for all of us. I expect some difficult times too...but together I hope to make it through.

All the Best!!!

~Marzipan~

Good luck this time marzipan. insurancesare so STUPID! to put it mildly. Some of the stuff thay cover without blinking an eye and this they make you jump thru hoops to get approved. They hollar preentative medicine, well help us out here. It's cheaper having the surgery than a lot of the other health risk. Most of us have tried everything under the sun and could'nt do it or it all came back plus more!. Sorry one of my pet peeves.:tongue_smilie:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
