a bit of a whine...on the day I hit 100 lbs down...

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I've lost 100 pounds as of today. I feel fabulous and wonderful...and yet I am still fat. I went shopping yesterday and I still don't fit into a 16. I still can't fit into the regular clothing at Macy's or L and T.

It's kind of disheartening. Well...it's really disheartening.

I still have another 58 lbs to lose to get to a healthy BMI. It may as well be another person. I feel as though I will NEVER get there. I know I've lost 100lbs...and that is a HUGE milestone, but there is still so much more for me to lose, I feel like I have no control over it all.

On the upside--I don't think I've been this weight since at least HS...maybe even junior high. That's kind of cool!!

Any thoughts?

Rain

I'm sorry Rain! I know that's disappointing. But WOW! What a difference between your pictures. You look gorgeous! And 40 inches off your body. That's a major accomplishment. It gives those of us who are just starting hope. You may not know it, but you are an inspiration to the rest of us! Keep up the good work! You'll get there.

I can't figure the size of clothes out to save my soul...there are some things that are a 12 that fit, but I turn around and am wearing a 16/18 W. It is very hard!!!

I agree, that I have really enjoyed following you and you look AMAZING!!! The best is yet to come...

100 lbs is an amazing feat and you should be so proud of yourself. I have lost 31 lbs and I know how hard it was doing that so another 70 lbs more has to be something to be applauded.

Remember that a year ago you couldn't even have imagined wearing a size 16 and here you are an inch or so away from that... that's a good thing. It's not easy staying pumped and excited about this because the last lot of weight will obviously be the hardest to shift but what is another year of your life when you had all that excess weight for so much longer than that. 1 lb at a time... 52 weeks in a year, 1 lb a week... GOAL !! (or close to it) :)

Rain:

I know exactly how you feel. Some people say ten or twenty pounds per size. I think that's a load of bs. I think it's going to be 40 or 50 before I get down from 18's to 16's. It's the damn tummy for me. Now I just had gallbladder removed, so any muscle tone I was starting to have near waist is totally gone - looking pregnant :).

Anyway, let's remember this three months from now when we're whining about not fitting into 14's yet.

Congratulations on your 100.

Sue

Rain

You look fantastic!!! I wish we could tell our bodies where to loose the weight so that shopping for clothes would be more enjoyable!!! Make sure you Celebrate and reward yourself with something besides being frustrated with your clothes!!! That is a huge milestone you just accomplished!!! Maybe you could look for a nice piece of jewelry or a day at a spa!!!!

Congratulations again!

You look really good compared to the 2 pictures I saw of you so pick yourself back up off the floor and quit feeling sorry for yourself. Youve done great so far and just think of it as being over the top and now its all down hill. I hope I can do as good.

Wow Rain you lk amazing - I know when your feeling down and disheartened it doesn't mean much when people say this but know truly you have accomplished soooo much!!! These feelings will pass. I have just started my journey and look forward to the day i can have a whinge about clothing sizes that start with a 1.... all mine start with a 2 and end in a 6/8. May you soon be complaining about size 14's. Good luck !!!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
