First Fill in two weeks!

Recommended Posts

I have my first fill in two weeks! I was wondering if this will jump start my weight loss. Since starting on the "mushy diet" two weeks ago I have gained 2 pounds. Initially I had lost 22 pounds. I am trying my best to write down everything I eat and count calories. I am trying to keep my caloric intake below 1200 (I have good and bad days). I used to eat 2500 calories a day or more. I am hoping if I exercise after the my first fill that I can average 3-5 pounds a week..................is this too ambitious?

3-5 lbs is not realistic. It truly is more like 1-2, maybe 3 if you are lucky. You are doing the right thing by eating 1200 calories a day. Your body should start to lose again once it realizes you are back on food. I did gain 7 lbs in between fills one time so that is totally normal, especially when you get to solids. How much at one time can you eat? 1 cup? Your doctor probably will only give you a slight fill. Keep going back until you can only consume a small portion of food, maybe a couple ozs at a time. Also, if you are hungry really fast you will need another fill. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
