I never really thought about the emotional consequeneces of the Lap Band surgery.  All I knew was that I was on a mission to end the weight problem which has affected me since I was five years old.  I still am considered obese in relation to the BMI, but that's okay.  I have time to get to my goal of a 25 BMI or 135 lbs in my time frame of 2.5 years.  Its been a little over one year from the surgery and I have lost almost 70 pounds and feel 100% better.  I am currently working with a nutrionist, a bariatric therapy specialist, and trying to incorprorate exercise into my lifestyle.  I envy those who can maintain a regular exercise program.  I feel unmotivated at this point, but something has got to give.  I think I found my sweet spot and will not have adjustments for a while. I have learned to eat smaller portions, but sometimes still reach for unhealthy snacks or food.  But eat 1/3 of what I would normally eat.  I have reintroduced diet soda to combat my love of wine.  I was drinking 1-2 glasses a night for a year after surgery and feel I was beginning to have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.  I still drink occassionally, but try not to drink at home and only socially. At the end of the day, I have an addictive personality and I am working on this in therapy and trying to find healthier options.  The Lap Band is helping me change myself emotionally and physically and there has been a lot of self discovery this past year.  This will be my life's journey  - weight loss.  I couldn't have started the battle without the help of the lap band surgery.
