Lol Charlie try not to worry too much, for me my surgery was postponed 2 times so I got used to the anxiety of waiting. Once your in the hospital gowns and there wheeling you to surgery - THEN you start to panic lol. I had pain for about 2 days after surgery but overall the thing that helps is walking. Alot of people get gas afterwards, for me all I got was alot of burping (thankfully) but I still walked around the ward 4 or 5 times. Then when I got home the thing that hurt most was where the port is and my arms and sides from pulling myself up (also had to get my mum to help me out of bed for about a week after) umm people also sometimes get shoulder tip pain which is like right at the top of your shoulder - I've only had it twice and it was on tuesday 3 weeks out. Try using a heat pack for that and also walking helps - Don't take nurofen cuz it can affect the stomach lining - I lived on the mini panadol capsules for about a week and went thru 2 packs but my nurse said it was ok as long as I wasn't letting the pain get beyond unbearable.

Just remember to listen to the guidelines they give you, some people don't and it kind of sets them up for failure (like the one chick who claimed she was only banded for 11 days and could eat whatever she wanted, uhh liar much?) Lol so yeah.

Charli, I so know how you're feeling! I was terrified leading up to the surgery.

Funnily enough, once I was on the operating table and they were putting the cannula in etc, a wonderful sense of calm came over me. Or was that the drugs?

Seriously, I'm been a week banded and I have zero regrets so far. I have no appetite, am losing pretty steadily and am embracing my new banded life.

You'll do great!

Thats strange that a lapband dr would hope that you come to your senses and pull out.

Anyway you date is tomorrow so good luck and think of it as the first day of the rest of your life.

Hey Charli, Congrats on your surgery! Everyone with the pain is different, for me the worst pain was basically straight after surgery until like day 3. I took the panadol gel capsules for about 12 days or so after surgery - Around the 7 day mark I took them just at night to make sure I wasn't in any pain. Walking definitely helps, when I was home I just walked around our living room like 50 times to help with the pain. Around the 7 day mark I think it was though, my stomach was so uncomfortable - I was paranoid I could feel the band moving so I started walking around the living room again lol. Good luck with everything =)

Congrats, Charli! You're going to be sore for a while but it will get better. You might not feel like it but trust us, walking is the best thing you can do for yourself at the moment. It will relieve the pain and minimise the shoulder tip pain that comes from the gas buildup in your abdominal cavity. The more you walk, the more/faster that dissipates and the better you will feel.

yay..!! 1 week down 4kgs down..!! but to tell the truth even tho im not really hungry i am quick sick and tired of this liquid diet im sposed to be having 1/2 cup x 6 of sustagen and i have 2 if im lucky, i have to force myself to drink it. Ive been going round sticking my face ito all sorts of food just to get the smell, sounds abit crazy! Cant wait for the next week to be up so i can go onto mushy food cause i guess u can basically stick anything into a blender.

Hang in there Charli - it will get better! In the meantime, while you are still on liquids, try to vary the Sustagen with things like chicken, vegetable or beef broth (while you are still on clear liquids) or any of the cream/smooth Soups out there when you move to thick liquids. There are dozens available - just make sure you read the labels and pick the low fat/low calorie choices, coz some of them can be deceiving.

Other options include any of the low fat/fat free yogurts or sugar-free jellies. If you are using Optisludge (yuk), one way to make it palatable is to add a tablespoon of diet icecream topping (strawberry, chocolate, caramel, etc). If you try to change up the flavours as much as you can, it is much easier to deal with the boredom of liquids only. When you get to thick liquids, try half a banana blended with 250ml of zero fat milk and a teaspoon of honey. It's low in calories (175) and fat and is REALLY filling! I can't stand the zero fat milk on its own (generally go for Hi-Lo), but you honestly don't notice it in a banana smoothie.

My mom would have screaming nightmares if she thought i was doing those teenage years over again. :scared2: Been through the haircut thing myself, no recent piercings though, but plan on one once i can locate my belly button.

The haircut thing for me is due to hair loss that 'supposedly' just happens after surgeries. I've had 9 surgeries, some pretty drastic, but never experienced Hair loss before. I'm thinking it's the weight loss, surgery, and diet change all in one.

Your ticker looks GREAT !! Congats on the surgery and weight loss.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
