Thought I was getting out of a pre-op diet...

I was told my my surgeon's nurse, when she called to tell me I was approved by ins, that there would be no pre-op diet. Just no food after midnight the night before. Went to my final surgeon appt yesterday and he put me on liquids for 3 days before the surgery. Getting banded on Monday and no food with chunks for almost 6 weeks. Oh well, I suppose my liver could use some shrinking!

I was on a nine day pre-op liquid diet but I could also have a half cup of cottage cheese or Jello every day. Then after surgery, 2 weeks liquid diet to allow proper healing. You get used to it especially since you really don't feel like eating let alone drinking anything thicker that Water for a few days or so after surgery. It goes by quickly

Edit: and that's exactly why they want to go on a liquied controlled pre-op diet, to shrink the liver :blushing:
