My doctor told me no blood pressure medication?

Hi, I have so many questions since I was banded today. I take blood pressure medication and it is a direutic (like a water pill). My doctor told me not to take it? Has anybody else's doctor told them not to take their blood pressure medication after surgery? When I do not take it, I get headaches and retain lots of water. It is a vey uncomfortable feeling. I have my first post-op appt. next week and hopefully he will tell me that I can start taking it again. Thank you everybody.

Yes, they took me off my meds. I was suprised too. Even at my post-op they told me to keep off them. I saw my PCP a few days after that and she has decided to keep me off them. Because we lose weight pretty fast, it is hard to regulate and as long as my BP stays pretty normal she's not worried. Mine was a diuretic too, but I haven't retained water like I used to since my surgery. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for your replies. I just thought this was a bit odd since I need to keep my blood pressure down. I would actually love to be off of them for good. I hope I am in the same boat with not having to take them because I have lost so much weight. Thanks again!!
