PLEASE help, read this if you had Kaiser in Colorado.

My doctor is completely unsupportive. She says both my BMI (42) and age (22) is too low for the surgery and that I am just not trying enough and it can be done without surgery. Whatever her reasonings, I want a more supportive doctor, because without the doctor's supprt I'm not getting banded anytime soon.

Please tell me who your doctor was in the Kaiser network in Colorado?

Best wishes BB in finding a supportive doctor. This is a progressive disease and it is better that you do something about it now at 22 than live the next 20 years getting worse. I am 44 and I know. It will only get worse. Don't give up! Keep looking for someone in your area. If you cannot find anyone, broaden your search. Again, best wishes!!!!

I don't know your medical history but perhaps Kaiser requires you to have certain pre-existing conditions or a certain BMI before they will authorize the surgery and if don't have those then the doctor could've been telling you that you are too young and should try something else. Find out what would qualify you for the surgery and if you meet them then start looking for another doctor.
