Water and Calories Question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have upped my Water consumption to 10 glasses a day. I started 2 days ago and I have gained 5lbs. Now, I assume, hope, pray, that this is just the extra water and it will slowly go away, taking lots of extra fat with it. I know I need a fill, but I am still counting/logging EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth into DailyPlate. I am keeping around 1000 - 1100 calories a day. Pre-band, I was consuming 3500+ a day. Now, with that being said, I have not started exercising (bonking myself on the forehead), but I feel that I should be loosing more. Hell, every diet I have been on has been more successful than this! -note to self, short term success, remember that-

I had lost 15lbs (since 2/19), now it is only 10. The odd thing, I feel that I am eating super healthy, my calories are maintaining well. Ugh!

Hi Minpin. I love the dailyplate too and log my stuff there and it is a help. The weight can be Water, but also be careful eating too little calories. It took a while for my nutritionist to convince me 1200 was too little. She said if you eat too little the body freaks out and will store the fat and cause you to gain. I agree, since the band, this is the slowest weight loss and I am doing it extremely well. She also said to have 3 servings of dairy a day and to up my calories to 1400, especially since I am exercising. I followed her instructions and did see a steady drop. What I do now is I may eat 1200 one day, 1400 the next and maybe 1100 the next. shake it up a little so body doesn't go into starve mode. But your post reminded of me because this is the first time I am sticking to the calories and plan, and the weight loss is slow. I had surgery 10/11 and lost only 32 but I am not gaining so I wont complain. Usually I would have given up by now, so all is good. Good luck and wish you well

I should probably invest in a nutritionist. I knew eating too little can stop the weightloss - I didn't loose but 2lbs when I was on my liquid diet and the Dr. said it was from too few calories, but I was eating like 300 - 600 a day. I thought 1000 would be plenty. (makes me kinda happy to think it may not be!)

I really need to get my butt in gear and start exercising. My Best Friend just had a baby and we are going to do the trial to Curves together, but, uhm, she just had a baby and it is SO hard for her to find the time, I guess I should just jump in there by myself!

Thanks for your advice!

Yes! It has gone back to what it was - now I am on stinkin liquids again, had a fill yesterday so I won't expect any weight loss for a week. But I know it is on the way!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
