CONFESSIONS:who has cheated and ate junk food

Recommended Posts

Thanks Sfeiner, your dog is very cute too!

I wish he/she were mine, a friend of mine sends me all sorts of animal links all the time and I fell in love with this pic and put it up. I should put up my own dogs, one's a sato, rescued from Puerto Rico and the other is a shepherd mix rescued from hurricane Katrina. Satos are very skittish and the shepherd mix is only a year but he's kind of affraid of others outside the family too but we're still working on him.

I think there needs to be a "dog lovers lap band forum" because everyone loves to talk about their dogs don't you think?

Do you all think that everyone has different "slider foods". I know someone mentioned pizza but for the life of me I can't eat pizza anymore, barely a nibble. I had never heard the term slider food before but that's the perfect name for it. I am trying to focus more on the Protein and have noticed that if I get it down I am less likely to want to eat the bad foods unless it's just the time of month for me but I'm hoping that changing how I've been eating will help me not crave and go for the sliders!, thanks all who listen, BrandyII.

Pizza isn't a slider food by any means - I can eat it but very slowly, small bites and chew chew chew. I have had it maybe 3 times in the last 8 months - it's not something I do on a weekly basis..

Silder foods ie = ice cream candy milkshake cookie chips cracker as for each person having diff one - I can't say for certain - but each person does have their own demons with these foods that do slide thru so easliy...

I learned the term at my support group meeting - got say that's about all I did learn I would say that lbt & my months group has provided me with 24/7 support and info - why waste gas and time going to a meeting - but I am giving it one more try..

Brandy - the band does take will power - it makes having it easier imho - but you just gotta make up your mind that you aren't going to expose yourself to your demon foods - if you do fall - pick yourself up by the boot straps and start over - you can do this -

Thanks Janet,

I just didn't know if everyone was affected differently, physically not just the mental part of it. I'm trying and I appreciate you thoughts, brandyII.

I have found that some of the foods that were easy to eat at the beginning I can barely get down now. Even if I eat ice cream, I can't eat too much because I still get full. I still like candy and Cookies and ice cream and treat myself to them, but not nearly as often as I used to. I don't reward everything I do with food. I always try to eat something with Protein first if I am craving something and usually it helps, but sometimes I just gotta!!! LOL.

And just so you know--we were required to attend a group suppport meeting before our surgery, but they actually accepted this as mine! I think that is pretty cool and says a lot about this site!

phowell,

thanks for your advice, I think I'm starting to get it now, I hope! I am trying to eat the Protein more and that's basically helping me a lot. Thanks, brandyII.

Just saw this thread and maybe it's on to a completely different topic now, but I eat junkfood and I would NEVER call it "cheating" because -- what am I cheating on? I'm not on a prescribed food plan, I eat what I want in moderation (band-enforced, of course!). That's why I love my band. I can eat what I want, and have a controlled amount of it. I loved every bite of the strawberry ice cream I had yesterday and I didn't have a bit of guilt about it. It's all about balance and moderation. So, thanks to my band, a "singles" was more than enough and I didn't eat the damn-near half gallon I would have pre-op.

I don't count calories or anything else. I didn't get the band to diet, I got the band so I would never have to diet again. I want to eat like normal people, and normal people do eat Cookies and chips. They just control their portions and eat more balanced meals than I did pre-band. Now, I make much healthier choices than I used too. But, if I want a cookie, I have a cookie. If I want some chips, I have some chips. The beauty of it is my band keeps me from eating the whole bag of Cookies or chips. To me, it is all about balancing what you eat, not deprivation.

Susan, you are just like me. I got the band so I wouldn't ever have to attempt another diet.

Reducing the amount of food has been key, and what I think the band was created to do.

I saw on the news a special about dieting and weightloss and 2 women had bowls of Soup, 1 at the bowl and stopped. The other ate, and ate...she had a bottomless bowl. I think they said she ate 3x as much.

So it is about being satisfied with food. Eating just enough.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
