Hi guys,

Tiny thanks for the info on the CIB. I think I need to look for something new. My stomach is yelling out, please stop! ha ha.

I'm feeling better today. I wasn't able to tolerate all my shakes or Water yesterday. Had a little nausea, feeling much better today. I did 10 min. on the treadmill and hoping to get 2 more shots in today.

The pain is better, but the port area as expected is still hurting. I haven't taken any pain meds today, so that's good.

I don't have steri strips that I know of, just gauze and tegaderm. I may buy some more tegaderm to cover it up as they get loose, I didn't really soak them in the shower and they still feel pretty good. I do get pain when I feel like I have to burp, weird, shooting pain which feels like it goes all the way up my esophagus. Nothing happens. Then it goes away. Could be me drinking too fast.

Hope everyone is enjoying this lazy sunday!

WOW! tredmill already?!?!? Glad your feeling better!

:tongue2:

Hello Everyone, well the beginning of day 6, down 12 lbs, went to Franklin Park and walked the entire track I was proud of myself, have adhered to the guidelines with no issue, no nausua, no pain and no gas, life is good. I know everyone is different but is this normal for the weight loss? Plus my monthly friend decided to visit yesterday, yet no cramps. HIPPIE......how is everyone doing? Thinkingaboutit, are you feeling better? I pray you have.

Here is some info I thought would be helpful to share:

Syntrax is offering samples of all 11 of the nectar flavors to everyone for only 4.99 and 5.00 shipping! Thats only 9.99 for the eleven samples to see if ya like any of them. once you order they ship them within 3 days its great.

for us newbies on here that can't have anything but liquids this offers a wonderful variety!! I did one of these samples each day and then one of another that i knew i liked. That way it wasnt the same old thing every day for protein!! These aren't as thick as some of the ones I have had so they go down pretty easily.

Call 866-333-7403 and speak with customer service!!

this website is great:

Hungry Girl

what do you think of this:

Dr. Joel Fuhrman Improves Health - Lose Weight Naturally | Reverse Diabetes | Prevent Heart Disease and Cancer | Lower Cholesterol

I thought he made good points and eating healthy is all we hope to achieve right? I've saw this stuff created by a WLS called fullbar? Anyone heard of it? The surgeon has a great reputation, his site: The Official FullBar, FullBites and Aquafull Website: Lose Weight Naturally by Feeling Full

Just wanted to share some of these things, I want to be successful and healthy and not adhere to anymore crazy overnite diet drama. Well, back to rest, have a great day everyone

Hi,

I'm doing ok. Port pain is the worst and the fact that my stomach is yelling at me all day is starting to get annoying. I bought some muscle milk to see if that helps. I'll look into that link. I'm just so leary of buying a bunch of stuff and not liking it and this is a great deal :()

I did 1/2 a mile on the treadmill today and went to target and did lots of walking there. I'm down 9 lbs since surgery and a total of 23 right now. All is good. I know it will slow down and possibly go up once I start eating. I'm only doing about 800 calories right now. Yesterday my hunger was through the roof and it was tough but I did it. Still having moments of when I am wondering if I did the right thing. Still very early but taking it one day at a time.

Question about your port. I can feel the tube and it's bulging out a little, could be swelling but grosses me out and gives me the chills when I touch it. Does it get better or is it just me. I'm worried about losing more weight and feeling it more. Will def mention it to Dr. R. but just curious.

I can't see my port and I think we are around the same starting weight my BMI was 36 and I"m 5'4", I can feel the tightness when I bend, in fact I have pain on my right side in the back I think I pulled a muscle heat relieves it but not from the surgery, but I also had hernia repair, but I'm also walking 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening and starting yesterday every other afternoon 45 minutes in the afternoon, I wanted to try everyday but I dont want to push it and when I meet with Dr. T next week if I can go to the gym thats where I"ll be taking classes I know no weights yet, but determined to work that band as the tool it is. I aslo like the Bariatric Advantage vitaband Vitamins it comes to like $20 a month for the bottle so I feel its worth it and it was recommened by 2 different nutrionists I spoke with. the great thing about the nectar Syntrax is that you mix with Water and taste more like a juice type gatorade and its packs 23 grams of Protein

And the fun begins. Why oh why did I gain 3 lbs overnight??? LOL I'm living on 800 calories and just drinking sugar free CIB and Water.

 I know I need to stop stepping on the scale every morn. Old habits die hard. :)

Tried the chocolate muscle milk light this morn. HATED it. Dumped that down the sink. :)

Hope everyone is well :)

sorry you hated it I did too.

Ive done better with vanilla Protein Shakes bc you can manipulate the flavor more than with chocolate. Cant stand the fake chocolate taste and it seems the higher the Protein level the grosser the after taste is.I will admit Ive used Hershey Lite Syrup, just a teaspoon

Some things I have tried to boost up the base flavors of protein shakes.... SF Jello pudding dry mix (cheescake hello), frozen fruit (strained out the seeds), Torani SF Syrup (found in the coffee aisle), cocoa power (low calorie),ice, Peanut Butter, and pumpkin spice.

You might try different extracts, too---orange, lemon, and coconut are my favorite! They don't add sugar or negligible calories.

Hey all --

Sorry I have been MIA. I hope everyone is doing well. So my weight loss is slow but atleast its coming off. I have been going to the gym and was feeling great until my knee started acting up. I had 2 knee surgeries 7 yrs ago and NOW it decides to act up again. So i bought a sweet hinged knee brace with patella support -- ahh! I've been good at the gym - not killing myself but getting in at least one hour of cardio a day. I can't wait ti get filled. Almost ANYTHING can go down. I still really can't eat alot but nothing gets stuck. Tuesday oct 6 is my first fill. Is it painful? Im a wee bit nervous about that. SHould I do/take anything in preparation?

When in the next meeting at Brigham? Is anyone planning on going?

Hello Everyone on a rainy dreery Saturday. I hope all is well. I"m still healing well, feeling pretty good, I think the daily walking has helped speed it up,I'm down another three pounds, I dont like weighing myself everyday I think once a week is good but my hubby was curious so there you have it. BTW the syrups by Torani you can find at Marshalls or TJ Maxx for a much better price than the supermarket. I have found the cream Soups a blessing especially in this weather. The nutritionist at the hospital after the surgery had some great ideas on what else to eat so its been pretty good. Whomever is going to the Faulkner meeting this month I will see you there. I hate driving in town and its cheaper to park at Faulkner, but it seems like BWH has a larger scale of people including the clothes exchange. But did I tell you how much I love my surgeon? WHen I was in the hospital he went downstairs with me while I did the swallow to personally tell me how it looks and put me at ease. Have a great weekend everyone.

I go for my fill tonight at 4pm. I'll probably ask for another small one. I feel tighter all of a sudden {??????} Don't know why. I'm brining my food journaling w/ me to ask what am I doing wrong!?!?!?!? I wonder if I'll have a loss on Dr. V scale?

Hope all is well! :cursing:

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
