Thanks for the info Mel..

Blue---Great job...keep up the great work!

Paige...did you make it to the meeting on Tuesday at Brigham?

I am still not quite restricted, but hope the next fill will do the trick. I will see the nutritionist as well...

LOL---Nope. Had a few issues. Actually, after seeing you guys last week and getting my first fill in a year, I proceeded to throw up for 3 straight days---liquids, solids, you name it! I lost nearly 9 pounds from Monday afternoon to Wednesday morning, according to the scale in the office. I don't get it---I've been up to 7 cc's before and was only filled to 5.5 this time. I'm back to 4.5 now, so I can NOW eat ANYTHING.....yeah...this is how my band has worked---.5 in, 1.0 out.

So.....Restaurant week interfered with going to the Brigham's group. BTW--couldn't find you on facebook!!!

Hi friends! Sorry I have been MIA recently. We were on vacation in August so I didn't make it to the meeting. My weight has been the same....gaining and losing the same 3 pounds..grrrr....but I must admit eating and drinking too much on vacation! :crying:. I am getting refocused and looking forward to another fill...which will be my 4th, and hopefully will do the trick. I do have restriction but I think I am able to eat more than I should (if that makes sense!:scared2:). I did join a gym this week, so I am happy about that. Baby steps......man, has this process taught me patience.....which, as you can tell...isn't one of my strong suits!

I have only had 2 fills so far. The next one is in a few weeks.... But still dont feel anything yet!!! I know it can take several fills to feel any restriction, BUT am curious to know how many CC's of "fill" people have in their band, particularly if you feel some restriction....

Jennifer,

I've been up as high at 7.0 cc's in my 10cc (I think...) band. I've had a few fills/unfills and am currently around 5.0. I had a fill the last time I saw you guys at the meeting to take me from 5.5 up to 6.0, but was horribly sick and they took 1.0 out. UGH. Frustration is that so many things affect my band---bloating, PMS, stress, etc. I find that mine is more loose when I workout and get rid of any bloating. I still have a lot of food intolerances, even at 5.0...

Jennifer....I think I am at 6..(4 the first time, then 1cc for the 2nd and 3rd fills). I still need more. Wondering if I have a 14cc band or a 10cc band. I definitely get fuller quicker....but I can still eat more than 1 cup of food at a sitting...and nothing really bothers my band....

I named my band...Raul.....not sure why....but Raul behaves most days....nothing has gotten stuck..just a little backed up. I have no food intolerances...which is probably not a good thing.

I keep coming back to the boards for inspiration, ideas, motivation...etc...:)

I think I am at 5CCs right now and have a 14CC band. I'm losing weight so my appetite must be somewhat smaller but I still can eat anything I want. I do like the idea of naming the band! I have my next fill on September 7th.

Just venting/whining.....general pissing and moaning here. So I joined a gym which so far has been great and I have been working out more than I have in years.

So do you ever have those mornings where you "feel " like you lost some weight? Not sure if it's the working out or what...but I felt like there must have been a change, right?

So I stepped on the scale only to find that I gained 2 pounds. HUH?:P WTF? Only I can gain 2 pounds from working out 5 days this week.

I should have dr.R just fill the damn band up completely shut...and I will STILL probably gain. :o I can't seem to get past this plateau...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Anyone been in this same position? I hope this means a drop will come soon, but maaaaaaaan? come on.....hook a sister up!

Thanks for letting me vent....bitch...whatever you want to call it. Blah. So much for feeling like I lost weight!

Holly

Sorry to hear about your frustration. Just don't let that stop you from working out and doing what you know is right. Now would be a really good time to start taking measurements of your body, if you haven't already. The measurements will be more accurate for your efforts, whereas your body/weight will be different depending on Water retention, certain foods you've eaten, etc. I remember well how frustrated I was between 4-8 months post-surgery. If not for the NSV (non-scale victories) I'm not sure I would have been able to keep it up. Hope that helps. :o

thanks Paige...you are right...I need to find a tape measure for that...ASAP. I do need to learn to appreciate the non scale victories more. It just let the air out of my sails.....kwim?

Thanks guys.....we shall see how it goes..

hey all-

I can so understand everyone's frustrations. Been working out more with little change in my weight..

Bostonmamma- I think the key there is how it makes you feel. I know the more I keep active and work out the better I feel both physically and mentally. It is verrrry frustrating to not see any scale changes when you are working so hard to fit exercise into your life.

I had a 1.0 fill 2 weeks ago and Dr V was concerned I may have a leak, the last time I was in the fill level #'s didn’t match. ( Funky math from the PA's???)I went back this past Tuesday and everything was there so I don’t have a leak, and I had her take out .5 cc of that fill. Was having problems with tolerating solids, mushy and liquids were fine. I could also feel some heartburn starting from the pbing. Quickly nipped that in the bud with some Prolsec.. Its too back I couldnt handle that level bc it wiped most of my hunger away.

It seems like I'm so sensitive to the fills. Tiny fills of .2 or even .1 seem to work out best for me.

Jenn-From what I’ve read you may see people reach restriction around 1/2 way point of total capacity (i.e. over 5.0cc if they have a 10 cc band , over 7.0cc with a 14cc band). I can dig out the article I have if you want it.. Currently I am at 7.5cc and I have the 14cc band. Of course everyone is different and various things can affect how tight you may feel on any given day.

Also still dealing with trying to lose the weight I gained from unfill back in May...I may lose again if I can stop my night time eating...its becoming my demon. :o

I'm with you on the frustration from the unfill. Not only did I not do well with my fill last month, they took out that fill AND an extra .5 CC three days later. UGH.

Anyone know the date of the next meeting? Thinking Faulkner must be on the 13th, but not confident....

Hello everyone. Hope this finds everyone doing well. I just wanted to let you all know that I don't think I will be able to make it on Monday. Mommy guilt.....kids are exhausted after school and have been falling apart by dinner time. Think I need to stick around the house to help out with the madness. Things are going "ok"...I get another fill on Monday and I am hoping to be closer to that illusive sweetspot. I joined a gym and that has been going well....Just got over my first tummy bug with the band in....yuck, yuck, major yuck. Thankfully, it was short lived. But I think I will ask Dr. R about having some anti nausea meds on hand for the "next time." Will he give me some?

Anyway....check in when you all can...it has been quiet around here!

Hey there! Need a little advice/reality check here. So, has anyone had Rachel as PA for Dr. Robinson? I went in yesterday for a fill. So this was my 4th fill...I was soooooo looking forward to it because I have been at a flippin STANDSTILL on the scale for far to long. I know my weightloss will be slower than most be come on man!

So at my last fill I should have been up to 6cc. She pulls out the Fluid and says....you aren't at 6...more like almost 5! Ummmm, that should have been my fill in JULY! So she gives me 1 more and writes in my chart "between 5 and 6 cc".

I don't know what to think about this? Does fluid like evaporate? Shouldn't I have been at 6 and getting to 7 yesterday? I am definitely not at the sweet spot people talk about. I have some restriction but can def. eat more at a sitting than I should with the band.

It's a little early to see if this amount will help or not. It is the morning after and I am "tight"....er.....we shall see. What do you all think? Is that weird? Should I call and get some clarification? ANyone have Rachel before? hmmmmm..I seriously don't want to wait yet another month to get a fill that I already had in August (amount wise)....kwim?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
