Allison, Yes she's 1/2 bichon and 1/2 maltese. She's a year old and weighs 8 pounds. My daughter has a 1/2 bichon and 1/2 shi-tzu and he is bigger. A couple days ago I saw a 8 month old bichon and he was adorable. I love dogs of all types but esp maltese and bichons. That's why I got the mix.

You are right to a point, I have seen irrelevent posts that have nothing whatsoever to do with WLS...that is the garbage. However, hearing about others experiences good or bad helped me make my decision. I know what to ask my surgeon, I know what not to do (eg: chew gum) and the moral support that this forum provides is immeasurable. I would suggest that people stick the subject of WLS and leave out the garbage.
I wouldn't call off-topic posts garbage at all. We have off-topic forums for a reason. This isn't just a WLS support forum. Is that it's primary purpose? Of course, but we've also made friends here and it's always good to talk about things other than banding and to interact with people on a level other than just asking and answering pre- and post-op questions. Honestly, the off-topic forums are why many of the successful old-timers stick around, IMO. There's only so many newbie questions they can answer before they want to talk about something other than the band.

That's the good thing about this board, IMO. You can take what you want and leave the rest, because nothing here is mandatory reading (as much as some of it should be, like the threads on the reasoning behind the post-op diet).

I have a little silky terrier. Silkys look like yorkies but are a little bigger.

I am freaking out because she is almost 12.

Rants and raves and the lbt lounge are exactly for posting about anything you want. I believe it even says right on the home page,

to talk about things other than banding.

I have two babies, Max and Winston. Actually, Winston is our daughter's baby. He is a seven year old long-haired doxy. He is sweet, but the dumbest dog I have ever owned! She gets mad at me because my nickname for him is "Dopey Dog".

Max is mine and dh's baby. He is a five year old chocolate lab. I love him to death!! He is honestly, the best dog I have ever had.

I also love, love, love german shepherds and am currently on a Quest to convince my hubby that we need one more dog.

We have so many dog lovers on here. I think we need a thread just for doggies and their pictures. Love them! Ok we could include kitties too.

OOPPPS I forgot to complain about anything. Here goes. The weather is crappy here and basements are flooding (roads too) Last night our big grill blew over and our flag blew off the pole. Piddly little things compared to all the problems with wind and rain some are having. I feel really bad for those people with no power. I'm complaing for them. Official complaint registered.

I got a black lab named Bogart when I was 6 months old, so we grew up together. He died a couple years ago when I was about 18, so he was about the same age. He really was such a good dog and I miss him a lot. I love having little dogs now though, they are really like my babies, I carry them around and they sleep in my bed and they are convinced they are little humans, but they will never be as good as Bogart. They bark, and have "accidents" they hate going outside unless the weather is perfect, a little drizzle or wind and they are whining to come back in. Oh dogs lol. They are both nuzzling the laptop off of me to try and get my attention right now lol.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
