Sushi Post-band

I have pretty good restriction right now and no problems with sushi other than 3 of them filling me up!

It all depends on the person, I guess.

I love sushi! Rice is a major problem for me though. So I just stick with the sashimi and a little bit of soy sauce and I'm good to go! Although I can probably get by with one California roll, but more rice than that, and boy do I pay!

Mmm...now I want Sushi for lunch ;-)

I haven't tried sushi yet, though I've wanted to, but my husband doesn't want to go quite yet. I've tried rice and havne't had a problem. I think the only foods I've had any issues with is scrambled eggs and really dry chicken. And I just don't think I chewed well enough. I didn't PB or anything, but it just felt like a bowling ball going down my esophagus. I still eat them just in different ways.

Surgery is 13 days away- so glad to hear that sushi may not be totally out of my life. We shall see... ;) Jeanie

i would be reluctant to eat raw fish (sashimi), but maybe a california roll (made with avocado, crab stick or crab salad) sounds like it would go down okay.

Yes fish is awesome for you but just remember, it's so individualized. Just be careful your first time....and good luck with it!

If you ever come to KY we'll go have ourselves a Playboy roll!! It has eel and is soooo yummy!!!

Let us know how it goes!!!

13 days, you must be sooo excited!!

I love Japanese food and eat it aproximately every 1 or 2 weeks. I find if I begin my meal with a miso Soup or tea I am warmed up and find eating sushi much easier. I avoid the maki rolls since the rice gives me a hard time. The nuri (seweed is impossible). If I do have a piece I just open it and eat the middle. I mostly stick to shashimi (yummi and no problem to eat). Sushi I pick the fish off of and leave the rice. sometimes I do eat some rice but find it does not go down so well. I usually feel better if I do not eat it. I LOVE shashimi.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
