Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?

Recommended Posts

1- I want to go into a shoe store (ALDO, preferrably) and buy a really sexy pair of peep toe stillettos and never again have to settle for whatever comes in a wide width. 2- I want to go on a tropical vacation with my husband and son and feel comfortable in an unfamiliar place for the first time instead of worrying about who is staring at me...

I want to tie my shoes on the top, not the side.

I want to build a sandcastle with my kids and not tell them "no, not right now" because I don't want to be embarrassed trying to get back up from the sand.

I want to buy clothes because they are cute, not because they hide me

I want to hug my husband and be able to melt into him, not just feel like I am smooshing my tummy into him

I want to be able to buy cute little t shirts to wear with jeans, instead of long ones....... I want to be able to take my 2 1/2yr old son to the waterpark and let him have fun, instead of saying "maybe next year" because I'm too self conscious to put on a bathing suit in front of everyone. I want to have my sex life back and feel comfortable in front of my husband naked!!

I can't wait to get banded so I can start living life!!!!

Get back into riding motorcycles, take my 4 yr old granddaughter to the zoo, the fair, etc... without getting winded, take my dog to the dog park to play, be more social and spontaneous, work in my yard and not be embaressed to wear shorts & tank top in the front yard! buy new clothes....the things I would feel more comfortable doing w/o this xtra 100+ lbs...the list would be endless!! LOL

Geez, this is a wonderful topic to discuss. Kudos for thinking of it.

I want to ride a rollercoaster again (though I dont think I'll be waiting for my ideal weight to do that). I want to take up jogging. I want to ride a horse along the beach in Cozumel with my mom and sister. There's a million things that I don't/can't do because of my weight. I want to spend all day at Disney World and not feel exhausted by the end of it. I want to take up Tennis. I want to borrow clothes from my little sister and actually be able to fit into them!! I want to shop at a normal people clothing store.

I'm getting so excited just thinking about it!! (SQUEE):crying:

I'm only just starting my journey, but, assuming I get accepted and have it done, there's no limit to what I want to do.

I want to take dancing lessons. I want to travel. I want to buy clothes I actually like, in colors other than black, instead of just what hides me sufficiently. I want to wear a bathing suit in public - which I've never done. I want to turn heads. I want to go to my next hs reunion instead of skipping it again. I want to not be the "jolly fat girl' of the group anymore. I want to be one of the "pretty girls" instead of just the one with the "pretty face". I want to be healthier like my beloved grandfather (rip) wanted me to be. I want my parents and my granmother to not worry about my health anymore.

The list just goes on.

I want to wear tank tops and look good in them. I want to be able to go swimming anywhere and anytime. And my ultimate dream is to run the boston marathon.

I want to get dressed up and hear my husband say what he used to say "Dang you are sexy" instead of what he says now...a really bland "You look nice".

I will cross my legs, I will wear skirts again (that don't go to my ankles), I will to SHRED my Lane Bryant card (hell - lets burn it too). I will play with my kids - peroid. I will be able to truly hug my kids and the'll wrap their arms aorund me. I will be SMALLER than my husband (for once in our marriage and as long as he has known me). I will be beautiful - not only on the outside, but in.

I will not be the FAT mommy any more. I will not be so tired all of the time. I will not give up!

Wow I make lists like this all the time to inspire myself to loose weight and this is the first time I truly actually feel like theses things will happen.(I'm in the beginning stages and ahven't had my surgery yet)

-I want to fly without feeling uncomfortable and travel all over.

-I want to go horseback riding again

-I want to buy a wedding dress I love when I get married not just one that covers my fatty arms and fits

-I want to shop wherever I want to for things besides accessories

-I want to live a long life

-I want to not constantly just think of all the things I would do if I was thin but actually truly do them and make a difference in this world!

My hope for all of us is that we can remember this list when we are faced with temptation and that we can work our butts off to get to our goals!!!

Go Us!!!!!!!

Amen sister!!!! I also can't wait to buy sexy lingerie...not xxl cotton briefs

(granted they are from Gap) but something that can't be mistaken for one of my toddler's shirts when sitting on the bathroom floor

I can't wait to not feel dread while walking through the mall and seeing my reflection on the all store windows....

My family went on vacation to the beach last summer ad while I had settled on the fact that I was probably the biggest person on the beach, I was just having fum watching my husband (who is very fit) and my 6 year old little boy play.

We went to the go-kart track one evening and they were so excited for us ALL to get to ride. I could not ride because the seat belt would not fit and for the first time I saw how my weight was not only affecting me, but my family was suffering. I could see in my little boy's eyes the disappointment and embarressmant.

More than anything I look forward to just Riding the Go-Karts!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
