A Date has been set

Recommended Posts

I finally received a surgery date. The doctor here is so busy he is already booking into July. So my pre-op is July 10 and my surgery is July 24. They say I'll go home that day. I also have to do a 2 week liquid diet prior, with Clear Liquids the day before. Oh well, going to have to buckle down and do it. I think I can do this. I've never been on an all liquid diet before or any type of fast. In a book that I read on bariatric surgery(mainly gastric-bypass) the womans motto was "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." That may be mine too. Just one day at a time. I can't wait to know that every summer, I can wear the shorts that I wore last year, that is unless there too big. I have never been able to wear the same summer or fall shorts/pants from season to season. :cursing:I have 5 sizes of shorts (all denim) that I have saved for the last 15 years. Just hoping that someday, I could wear them again. And now that time is finally arriving. Yaay me!!!:smile2:My surgery is scheduled exactly 1 year and 1 day after my first consultation. July seems like a long way away, but it'll probably fly by. Just thought I would share. Susan

Hi Susan and welcome to LBT! I am so excited for you on getting a date, that is wonderful news.

The pre-op liquid diet can be tough, but you just have to keep your eye on the prize, which is your band and a road to a healthier you.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.

I just read the book you are speaking of. I found it very interesting, but frustersting because she had the RNY. Do you know of any books that focus more on the band? I first heard the quote in weight watchers. I am hoping the band will help me to really remember that nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
