Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients

An older lady in the class said something along the lines of I know I am older but I want to know if Sex is better after the surgery to which several responses were given. Veronica was glad Father Michael was not in the room.

Thanks for the swift kick in the pants. I got on the scale las night an this morning and I did not gain weight even though I felt like I struggled last week. I woke up and prepared my water bottle and cooked a high Protein Breakfast ( steak and eggs) I could only have a few bites of each because I guess I am tighter in the morning? I plan to blend a slimfast shake with extra whey protein for lunch. dinner will be baked talapia and spinach. snack will be low carb Popsicle or string cheese. I feel like today I am in control! I really need you all to step in and hold me accountable for my success. Thanks so much for the support.

wendy, wish oyu could have seen it when that older lady asked that question. the room came alive.lol the lady was i think 58 years old. and the answers was funny. lol

april, try not to drink the slimfast. they have alot of suger in them. you can get the Protein Shakes in a can like slim fast from st.vincents east. i like them alot. and when you come next month you can try them for free. they are a little high (24 bucks for a case of 12) but there not high in suger and have alot of Protein. the next meeting is the 15th of nov.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I did not make it to the meeting on Saturday. I wanted to go so bad but the drive is a little bit too far right now (gas). I will for sure be at the next one. I am starting to get excited and nervous all in one. Wednesday is my nut. class and pre-op. Can someone tell me what to expect? I also found out that my co-pay is going to be around 300.00. I wasn't prepared for it being that much, but I have to say it's going to be worth it!

I can't believe that someone asked the "sex" question again! That came up on the 9/20 meeting. I loved all of the different answers! TOO FUNNY!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day... Talk to you guys soon!

Nutrition class is very interesting. Please make lots of notes and ask lots of questions. You will learn things like:

1. Do not chew gum!!!! If you swallow it, you could have a real problem.

2. Do not eat anything with more than 5 gms of fat, or 15 gms of carbs, like slim fast for instance.

3. You must get 60 gms of Protein a day, and 64 oz of Water a day. Everyday. Forever.

For those of you looking for some good Protein, get Isopure from GNC. If you get a member card and buy it by the case it isn't so expensive. 40 gms of protein in a 20 oz bottle. They have different flavors and it's better over ice.

That is all.

I forgot to ask you...which flavor do you like the best? I found it on Ebay at a good price. I was going to invest in some before my surgery.:tongue2:

And I forgot to mention, I was talking about the Isopure water! I've been drinking the orange, but I picked up some Alpine Punch today and it has less aftertaste than the orange. The first sip was really sweet, but after that I like it better.

I use the unjury (ad at the bottom of this page usuallly) for shakes and I like the chocolate. I blend it with some ice and it makes a really good thick shake. I bought the unflavored, but never used it and gave it to someone who makes all sorts of concoctions out of it.

well i got my first fill today. and it wasnt good.

first of i was there at 1:20 and went back at 1:35 i sat in the room from then to 3:31 when the came in. yes thats right it was that long. dr.miles had to go to surgery to help dr.schmitt out. and then once dr.miles started the fill he couldnt fine the port. he just kept on pushing the needle up and down and yes it hurt. then after about 2 mins. he went and got lisa. she down it in one try. i love her. i got on to dr.miles for not being able to do it. he smiled and told me sorry. but in all its was a ok first time.

i also was told i owed 572.98 dollars for what was left from the surgery. so it plus 300.00 copay is all i got to pay total. thats less then i was thinking.

on a side note im going to work on some t-shirts for us lapband guys/gals. i was thinking about drawing something up and putting are surgery date on there and some kind of saying. so give me some ideas if you want. i would like to also come up with us a name for the miles and schmitt banders.

WOW Jason.. what an experience. I guess I should just stop huffing over the fact that I can't be seen until 11/20 and just pray that Lisa will be there LOL. Normally I'm only in there 20 minutes max. That's waiting included. They always do the ultrasound and Lisa comes in and gets it the first time. It's a weird feeling but not painful. Feel like a cork coming out when she pulls it out lol. Maybe it'll be better next time!! Can you feel any restriction? How much did she give you?

Jason: I want to thank you again for the encouragement the other day. Even though LBT is here for support, sometimes a call for help can get lost among the many other posts. I have been doing so well since Saturday. I ate on plan yesterday and today (and yes I have been drinking the dreaded slimfast with my added Protein lol)

I also started the couch to 5k program today. I completed the workout and I really really liked it. The podcast that I found is to hip hop and is very upbeat.

lastly...I lost a couple of pounds! I am not going to update it in my siggie until Wednesday after my fill.

I feel pretty good! My goal is 10lbs per month and right now at almost 20 lbs in 6 weeks I am doing great.

Hey Guys and Gals,

Just got back from the gym and had a few minutes to catch the last few posts. Jason, I am so sorry your first fill experience was not good. Hope today is a better day for you. I will probably be a little nervous in the future if Dr. Miles comes in to do my fill. I will be thinking about a name for the group. T-shirts would be neat. Gotta get ready for work. Hope everyone is having a good week!! Remember ONE Day at a TIME!!!:Dancing_biggrin: Cindy

Oh, Jason, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. Please know this is not the norm. Usually, I'm in and out of there in about 15 minutes! I've only had Lisa do my fills. The second one I had hurt somewhat, but I think it's because I was marked wrong in the ultrasound and she had to dig around a bit. Haven't felt them since. I've never had the numbing shot either. Everyone says it hurts!

My fills don't kick in for about a week, everyone is different, I think.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
