Sipping wine with Dinner

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there who does sip a small bit of wine with dinner? I am a cook and wine with the meal is like Peanut Butter & jelly. It just goes together.

I think that is the thing I am having the hardest time imagining. That seems to be the thing that stands out to me as not feeling "normal" when out with friends. Will just a tiny bit cause the food to slide right through and not make you feel full?

I may have a drink from time to time...maybe once a month or less...but if I drink, I stop losing weight. A few times, I felt the booze immediately "burn" when it hit my band, so I quit. They say alcohol can cause swelling and erosion around the band site and that's why it is also suggested you don't drink. I guess it's up to you to decide if it's OK for you!

I do have a sip of wine every now and then w/a meal..Typically I'll have a glass - eat, then wait 30mins or so till I have another beverage (water or another glass of wine:tongue:).

It's not often - My Dr says if I enjoy wine, then go ahead - pay attention to the calories, and use w/moderation. I typically set a rule for myself, that I can't have that wine, unless I put in a big workout that day - My own little reward....But that's me:)

Oh yeah, Definitely glad, I feel better than I have in years. I totally get the cooking / wine thing. I didn't fininsh culinary school - but every weekend we have friends / family out to our ranch and I cook big meals. I always had to "taste" and drink while preparing / cooking & afterwards....I still cook big, but I have just a small portion - don't feel I'm missing out on anything. I'm sampling really low cal / low carb meals - and tricking everyone, some don't even know I have the band:)

rharriet62, I'm a little unclear on the statement about wine causing erosion of the band? the band is outside the stomach and the wine is in it so the 2 never come in contact, can you explain how it causes erosion? I am curious since I too enjoy a glass of wine when out with friends.

thanks

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
