Ready for the "thin" time (KS Newbie)

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! Well it's Springtime, and I have decided to pack away my size 26/28 winter clothes for good. I've just scheduled my surgery for 4/5/05, with Dr. Rodrigues, in Monterrey, Mexico. I'm a 48 yr old female, with a BMI of 48. I really need the surgery since in the last year I have been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, Hypertension, And High Cholesterol. Yes I'm scared, but that's because I'm an OR RN, and I think knowing so much about surgery makes it worse. Also, I still have so much to learn. I'm still trying to decipher what "PBing, PB, and Sliming" mean. Most people use these terms in their threads and I've sort of figured out the code to mean when food gets stuck in your throat. Any info more in depth would be helpfull. I was also wondering what to do about gas pain, after surgery. Actually any info for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. I'm in this for the long haul, and with your help I'll succeed. Thanks!

PB is when you get something stuck, and it comes back up again. Essencially it's throwing up, but there's no stomach acid involved, because it's just what was in your pouch. Sliming, happens when something is stuck. Your mouth and throat make more saliva in an effor to get the stuck thing to go through, but it just sits on top, so you end up gacking up all the slime. Sometimes you'll slime without the PB, but most PB's have slime in them.

Hope that makes sense ;)

Hi, I am an RN also and had my band done 2/17/05 with this Dr. and had a great experience. THe clinic is great. The are maticulus about sanitation, and aseptic tech. The equipment is older but beautifully maintained. I bet you will leave very impressed with the whole place. The gas for me lasted about 3 weeks. Then the farting stopped but I still have stomach gas with certain foods. When they give you your rules, take them seriously. Make sure you use the wheelchair escort at the airports, they are a lifesaver and they take you right to the front of the line at customs. If you walk as much as possible the gas is much easier to handle. I have never PB, or slimed so do not think it happens to everyone. Drink your Water, it will save you from some not so nice side-effects. Let me know how your experience goes?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
