Whats the lead time for your fill appointments?

Recommended Posts

Just thought I would try and poll the audience a little on how long it takes for your doc to get you in for a fill. I will be going for my third fill on April 1st. My surgeon has a rigid schedule of a fill a month for 3 months after surgery. I work with a lady who uses the same doctor and she was complaining about not getting an appt for 3 weeks and she needed a fill.

This really concerns me, I have no restriction yet after 2 fills, who knows how many fills I will need for restriction and if I have to wait a month to get another fill I'm gonna be pissed!!

Sorry that was a little of a concerned vent, but I also wanted to know what others are experiencing at their docs and what the usual is.

I can typically call and get in the following week or later in the same week I call. He fills every 2 weeks after your initial fill.

So far, I have been able to get in within the same week or the following week, but since I haven't reached a good restriction yet, I've been scheduling the next appt when I leave the office.

Usually within a week, if I want to get a convenient time for myself.

The center I go to has a policy of self-management; i.e. you don't have to wait a certain amount of time between fills. In fact, a fill adjust within a week of the last fill is done on the house, so if you are still too loose or have gotten too tight, you don't need to pay again to get it adjusted.

24 hours? My goodness do you go to a fill center or something?

No, I go to my doctor's clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. He has two associates that do fills, and they are usually available. They always do their fills with fluoro, which I like.

Hi There,

I have had three fills since August. After each fill I have to wait about 3-4 weeks before they can get me to see the doctor again to talk about whether or not I need a fill again. Then that takes 3-4 weeks. To talk about whether or not I need a fill is an hour drive, drive into the parking garage$$$ and the visit is only five minutes. The worst part of it all is that I have to take off from work. That means the school needs to find a sub for me. I am still eating quite a bit, although I have to chew well and take small bites.

I just understand the frustration of waiting for fills.

Oh my Cyndi that's horrible:eek:. I'm probably getting worried over nothing, but during my consult my doc assured me he would be aggressive with my weight loss. Hope he's true to his word!!

Within one week of my call, I can get in. Often, they have appts earlier than that, but I have to drive 5 hours one way and can't always take the first available time they have. That was a guarantee they made from the start before I ever had surgery ... and they have lived up to it!!!

mine goes on a monthly basis 3 fills so far , time gap might increase with time , and fills as well will get lower , first one was 2 cc second was 1.5 third was 1 cc and had 2 cc in time of operation , which makes them 6.5 so far in a 10cc heliogast band xD

but remember , its a tool to help loosing weight which means there will be a time that we wont loose weight by restriction only , excerecise is a must

i had my second fill on feb 26 and my doctor scheduled me for a follow up 2 months later. i want another fill because my last one did nothing but its hard to get into my doctor because she does other things besides band surgery. it seems like she likes to wait 6 weeks inbetween fills. i hope i dont have to wait until april 29 for my next follow up. i want my next fill as soon as possible.

I called @ 7am today for a fill for my husband, got him a 2pm appt - same day. I make my appts every 3 wks, after each fill - w/no problems to date.

My first fill was 5 weeks after surgery and then 2 weeks and then another 2 weeks for the 3rd fill. It has now been 7 weeks since my last fill but I am going in on Thursday. I called today and I could have gotten in sooner if I didn't want the fill under flouro but I do because it is my 1st fill under flouro and I just want to make sure everything looks good after 4 months.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
