BCBS of NC for State Employees

Do any of you have BCBS of NC for State Employees? Could you please tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly stories of getting approval or denial.

Hi Smiley!!!

I don't have BCBS state, but I do have BCBS of NC (Blue Options), and I was approved in 4 days. My policy I had to have a BMI over 40 for 5 cons. years documented with medical records, or I think that you can have a lower BMI with co-morb. for 4 of the last 5 years. I am really not sure, but you can call the insurance and they will tell you the guidelines for your specific policy. Also, my surgeon is a CENTER OF EXCELLANCE, and I think that they have a easier time getting it approved.....

I hope I helped, but call your insurance they are really helpful....
