pregnancy with the band-please post conception weight-delivery weight- and ....

Recommended Posts

I'm pregnant, and i have no idea how far along i am. from a post that i put on here freaking out thinking i was, i'm thinking i got pregnant beginning of january. with that said, i'm not real sure what i think my pre pregnancy weight was, but i would like to see how everyone else did.

so, please post your conception weight (estimate), your delivery weight, and your current weight.

this will help me i think.

i'm currently 204, last week i was 209, i think when i got pregnant i was 221. (I haven't been keeping much down).

My conception weight was about 235, down from about 382 when my band was placed. No idea of delivery weight, I'm still in my first trimester. My current weight is about 232. Fortunately I've not had a lick of nausea or sickness so it's business as usual.

wow, i guess i missed that you were pregnant. i read your posts all the time, but i didn't know that you were in your first trimester.

i have a 7 year old, and i didn't get sick with him at all, this one is a bit different. i'm just now getting over a 3 day Migraine with no meds, and i haven't eaten hardly a thing in those 3 days.

i know my doctor is going to gripe at me, but my ob doctor will not ever know my actual prepregancy weight, because i don't know it.

i think i'm at the stage where i'm supposed to gain at least 1 lb. a week, or something like that.

when did you find out?

Well, I will be happy to share with you my weight tracking here it is:

Pre surgery(size 18 W weight 221; Surgery June 05

From June 05 to January 07 had lost near 100 pounds. Was 127-130 became a size 4-5; Got pregnant February 07 137 lb, band was fully opened and with out restriction for pregnancy term....ballooned up to 204 ( I ate like it was going out of style...I do not encourage anyone to do this); had baby on September 10th 2007. I let 4 months go by before a fill, I returned to work and had one fill on January....so from 207 pounds at delivery I have lost 45 pounds; now at 162 lb or so and have some vomiting issues...perhaps band not well fit, but over all that's the best I have done. I see my self in June down to a size 7 again. I had my tubes cut, so no mo'babies, I have a 13 year old ...and after a divorce in 05, 3 years late I met my new husband and we now have a baby girl...he had never had any kids, so I had my daughter, I am 33, he is 27... this year is "plastic surgery time" for me...if all goes as planned. hope this helps you and anyone expecting...its a joyful time enjoy your pregnancy and forget everything else (Oh! and becareful withthe throwing up thing...it can cause some painful swelling of the band area....)....when you are ready to seriously start loosing again, you will do just that! don't forget to walk a lot all the way to full term, it will help you tremendously when delivery time comes....! If you need any further help ...just ask!

I haven't posted much about pregnancy, just mentioned it in one other post I believe. I found out via home test 2/29. Comfirmed with the doctor 3/5. I'm down another 6 lbs, mostly hydration I'm sure. Had a tough few days since Thu inc. an ER visit for bleeding/cramps. They saw a heartbeat & fetal pole on the US Thu, but I had continued bleeding/cramping this weekend. All brown/old, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll go in today to see if my HCG is increasing the way it should. OB still doesn't want to see me until Wed.

i've been having a lot of cramping too, but it just stopped. i haven't had any bleeding though.

i hope that everything goes ok for you when you get to the doctor. i've actually heard of a lot of people that go through that, but everything turns out fine.

my doctor is seeing me 3/31 for the first time, and my dh (call him that because we have been together for a long time), but we are making it official on 3/29...big wedding and everything, planned in less than 3 weeks

ob doc thinks i'm finishing up my 3rd month based on symptoms.

I think I was 192ish preconception (mid february). I'm now 186ish. I am around six weeks pregnant and the appetite is not all that prevalent. Pre band I gained about 25 pounds or so with my son and really didn't gain much or any during the 1st trimester due to all day sickness. I also was around 255 at the time. I have around 2.4ccs in a 4cc band and can eat pretty well, when the appetite happens!

Cramping didn't concern me, it wasn't terrible... it was actually a lot more mild than menstrual cramping. Bleeding has stopped (nothing for 4 days now). OB appt on the 19th -- they did an ultrasound to follow-up on the subchorionic hemmorhage that had been noted at 3cm. The OB uiltrasound showed a heartbeat @ about 170, expected sizing, and no more sign of the hemmorhage. It was a big relief to hear the heartbeat. Today I go from "embryo" to "fetus" -- hehe.

Weight on the 19th was down something like 10 - 15 lbs from weight when I had the doctor do the preggo test (start of the month). The OB wasn't too concerned about it, told me "you have plenty of reserves, the baby will still get what it needs." Thanks, I think??

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
