I'm still eating WAY to much. why?

Recommended Posts

I haven't had the same issues that some have had as far as emotionally accepting the band. Perhaps it's my age, and finally just reaching that point of desperation that I am glad for the process, even if it is difficult.

I think part of the issue here is that we all need to rethink food, our own eating behavior, and the band. If we can eat as much as a moose, perhaps we shouldn't.

How often do we see the word "bad" as in "I've been bad"? Threads that are worded to make the poster sound like a naughty, misbehaving child? To me this sends the message that someone else (the food, the band?) is in control. We need to put ourselves in control.

I think that it's important to have a plan and to work on that plan. Every single thing I eat I ask myself "Will this help me reach my goal?".

Just because we have not always had self discipline over food doesn't mean we can't develop it.

We need to seize the power. :grouphug:

It's been 10 days since my surgery. I'm supposed to be on mushies but I can still eat like a moose! I know some say you won't feel any restrictions until a fill but good golly.... I have NO restrictions. I've been eating everything in site. It's like I never had the surgery. This is not good.

I lost 5 pounds my first week but I bet I gained it back the last two days. Has anyone gone thru the same thing???? :)

I had my surgery exactly two and half months ago and have lost 10 pounds but am only losing a pound a month after the first two weeks post surgery. I can eat anything. I have been true to no carbonated drinks, cut out sugar as much as possible but I have been able to eat hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, won ton Soup, chinese food, etc without nausea. I had a second fill today and have 6cc of saline in the pouch--assuming it is working correctly. Now that the Chicago snow is melting, I will be able to walk a few miles a day outside-have not exercised as much as one needs to and not drinking enough Water. I have seen my glucose levels improve but still a long way to go. The doctor says that the weight will drop as the fills increase. I don't go back until the end of April so it will be a good test to see if I can drop five pounds or more. Good luck and be glad you are able to eat and can enjoy it. You will soon cut down your portions as the pouch tightens. Thanks. Yours, Van

Hastings,

You have hit the nail on the head!! Sometimes I question how serious people are about wanting to lose weight. No one could want a hamburger and fries more than me but that is exactly the kind of food that got me into this mess. Not to mention how bad it is for me. There needs to be more changes made inside each of us than just having a band around our stomach. I personally would not be happy with losing less than 6 lbs a month at the minimum. My doctor always says to me "Peolple tell me they can still eat a whole hamburger and I tell them I could steal from Target because they have lousy security but I don't." If you are journaling your food like you are supposed to and not going over 1200 calories a day, then losing at least 6 lbs a month is very easy( as long as you are not near goal weight). We need to be empowered to take control of the food and not continue to let the food control us because we like to eat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
