I just can't get started on the pre-op liquid diet. I keep cheating by noon.

Help! I am so looking forward to getting the lapband. But, my BMI is 57 and my surgeon won't do the surgery until I get rid of 45 lbs and get my BMI to 50. How embarassing to be too fat for weight loss surgery. I had no idea that I would be too big. I have seen many others have the lapband with BMI's in the 50-60 range. I am a self pay. I don't have to deal with an insurance company telling me what to weigh before surgery. Everyday I start the liquid pre-op diet. Everyday I just get soooo hungry that I screw up. That is why I wanted to lapband. To stop the hunger. Has anyone else had this trouble? Thanks for listening!

There you go! Another great alternative.

People have to be on liquid diets for awhile after surgery. It's hard enough then, and that's when it's really important. It's very important for the band to heal properly on the stomach and it can't heal properly if it's bumping and grinding trying to digest solid food.

I think it's too much to ask that someone be on liquids only before surgery and then when it's most important to be on liquids after surgery, the patient is just fed up with liquids. After surgery is when you can't afford to vary from the post op diet.

If you are using Slimfast you need to understand what it does if you are also on a Blood Thinner. The vit K is high, check it out.

OK so right about now I am freaking out. I am 1/2 day into my pre-op liquid diet and started to wonder what the heck I am getting myself into.

It is 12:30 and I have already had 2 shakes and 1 bar. Which means I have one shake and one bar left the rest of the day??? WTF??

Now here is where I am confused. I understood the pre-op liquid diet is necessary to shrink your liver so they can proceed via laparoscopy

But is 2 weeks really necessary? And now I see most people are doing it to lose weight? It there any alternatives???:)
