CONGRATS, to all who have had some great NSV's so far!! For those still waiting for one, it will come soon no doubt! And for anyone not having to shop in the Big Gals Stores, that is so great! I can't wait.

I had a huge one over the weekend. Clothes shopping. I needed new clothes because I hadn't really done any extensive clothes shopping in say, oh, maybe 8-10 years. Embarrassing to say...

I went through my closet and pulled out anything too big, and when I say "too big", I mean like size 3-4X tops. I've already long ago wasted my size 28's (snug). I started losing weight a few years ago, but maybe a size a year. That's why I chose to get the band so I can rid myself of the over-eating and hopefully reach my goal by this time next year. Anyway, I did keep most or all of my shirts over those years. They were so super huge on me now and I was looking frumpy and with outdated clothes from years and years ago. Needless to say, out they went. I was left with maybe 5 shirts! I had to go shopping.

The good part to all this is, I fit very comfortably in a size 1X shirt, and some were even a bit big. I made sure all my shirts fitted nicely though. I came away with the GREAT sales deals too. I bought 30 shirts, 10 pants and 6 new pair of shoes. My feet have definitely thinned out. I can wear shoes I know my big feet would not have looked so cute in before surgery. My best part was though, that I can squee-ee-eeze into a size 18 now. I did buy some and I even picked up a few 16's. I don't think I paid more than $20 for any item. Except of course my shoes, and one pair of jeans. I bought some Apple Bottoms from Macy's Woman.

I also bought a formal gown from Nordstrom Rack for only $47. It is so beautiful and good quality. It had no flaws that I could tell. It is a size 14 and I tried it on. I can get it on, I just can zip it up - but soon. I have it on my bedroom door for display, for incentive. It's working!!!!

Keep it up everyone - let us know about all those great things besides the scale going down!

You go girl! I found a treasure trove in my store room yesterday. I'm going to have a big dry cleaning bill because I found a bunch of stuff that either fits now or will in a week or two. I had forgotten that I had packed them away so it was like shopping. Unfortunately I didn't save any tops, just bottoms but now I get to shop for sweaters and shirts to go with the skirts and slacks. I had better taste when I was thinner. It's coming back though.

Hey fellow VV's. I have quite an interesting NSV to share today...

It was the strangest feeling but, as I am at work today :gag:, I was sliding all around in my chair. I noticed a significant difference in the way my chair slides with me now. It is so smooth and quick, where before, it was quite hard to maneuver. Embarrassing to say... Wow, it mostly the little things that happen, that make you realize your body is changing - for the better!

I had a wonderful NSV today. Went to Walmart and happened to pass swimsuits and looked and saw some with longer skirts that will cover tummy hangover. I knew an18 would fit so I took a 16 knowing by summer I could wear it. Got home, tried it on and it's only a little tight, I could wear it now. When I took it off I realized it was a 12-14 missy. I almost fainted. That was happy NSV for me!!!!!!

I have a funny NSV today. I love taking baths, but I hate that my tummy was always so big it stuck out of the Water like one of the Hawaiian islands surrounded by the sea! LOL! My belly was always cold and looked so stupid poking out of the water. I took a bath today, and the water completely covered me - tummy and all. Hee Hee!

I am loving all of your NSV's! Keep em coming!

The other day I was out riding my motorcycle and my engagement ring kept sliding around my finger from the vibration of the bike. It has never done that before. Also, my best friend was over here yesterday. She is heavier than me but has been losing weight on her own and is now in the size I was at when I was at my heaviest. I went through my closet and gave her some pretty dresses that she can either fit in now or will be able to fit in soon. She was thrilled that she got some nice new clothes and I was thrilled to get rid of them! Good riddance! LOL

Becca:

I had to laugh because I can so relate to this bath issue. I haven't taken a bath in about six months because of the "cold tummy" issue. Now that I'm down near 200 I think I'll try again.

Thanks for the laugh.

Sue

Okay, so mine isn't really a NSV but it made me feel soooooo goooooood that I had to post. :lol:So yesterday I went and got my first fill and I'm all excited about starting to lose weight, that I'm just giddy. Well, as I'm on my way back to work, I happen to come up on a car wreck. It had already happened and the police and fire truck were clearing the roads. So how about the 2 cuties in the "backseat" of the firetruck were totally checking me out and waving and smiling!!!!!!:drool:HMMMM....FIREMAN:drool::tt2: That just completely made my day and I was giddy the whole day!!! :sneaky::thumbup: I had totally forgotten what it was like to be checked out in a good positive way!! It kinda gave me back my spunk I had been missing!!!! LOL

Ready, that is my favorite kind of NSV, when people notice! Sometimes we can be kind of hard on ourselves and don't really see the improvements. So when people point it out, it feels so good!

Beach, WOW! What a great NSV!! It's so nice to get flirts from some cuties... :huh2:

Keep up the good work everyone!

Great thread 4jin.

I went shopping last weekend and actually found pants in the misses dept that fit. Granted they are stretch pants but they are XL none the less. The 1X in the same style was huge on me. I haven't shopped in that department in about 20 years. The woman's department is going to miss me.

I went walking yesterday and could actually walk up a long flight of stairs without stopping to catch my breath two or three times. I won't have to go looking for elevators anymore.

I too am waiting to go to the doctor's office for an official weigh in because I don't trust my home scale. It hasn't moved in about a week but I still feel great!

Hang in there everyone!

I am having a difficult time putting up one of those progress scales you all have, can someone walk me through the process, guess I'm computer illiterate.

Who's that touching me.

i was walking through walgreens today and felt something touch the side of my hip....i turned to see who or what it was IT WAS ME!!!!!! My own hand brushed my hip when i walked....due to my upper arms and torso weight my hand had not brushed my hip in a very long time...also i can now pretty comfortably cross my legs.....whooo hooo

my loss so far is 32 lbs....just can't get in my head how much that is but little things like what happened today put it into concrete real terms for me

can't wait till tomorrow

love my band

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
