Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, it may just be water-weight fluctuation, but I'm calling it a win for today - I'm down 4 pounds this week. It's nice to see the ticker move in the right direction. I will get this turned around. I may never be the poster child for weight loss surgery, but I'm determined to get at least 60 pounds off so my knees won't hurt and my butt fits in the airplane seat.

I am actually going to my doctor today to see if I can a 1/4 cc drained. I went last Tuesday and got a fill of 3/4 cc, but I started to 'slime' on Saturday. I have lost 7 lbs since then and I am miserable. I can't keep anything solid down. Let's see how I make out.

I hope it goes well - did you go back to the liquid and/or soft foods diet after your last fill?

Cheers!

Well I can't believe its been a week since we have all gotten back on track. I hope everyone had a great week and are looking forward to another great one!!! I am finally starting to see the scale move in the right direction. I lost 6.2 lbs. this week (wish I could do that every week). There is really something to be said for writing down what you eat and counting calories!!!

I am off track again :( When I went to my doctor on Thursday to have a 1/4 cc removed, he felt it best to remove the entire 3/4 cc that he gave me the week prior.....rest everything and then start up again. So, right no I have hardly no restriction. I go back on April 12th and he will give me a 1/2 cc and we shall see how it goes.

That is great HandinHand!!!! I am so proud of you. 6.2 lbs in a week is awesome!! :wink3:

Hi Winegoddesstx...yes, I did go back to the liquids for 2 days and then soft. When talking to my doctor he said he doesn't feel I am doing anything wrong. So we'll see what happens. He did say some people just don't do well with it.....it's like their bodies don't tolerate the band. But, I am not giving up yet!!!

Please don't give up! We all need to be patient and not take our set backs too much to heart. I was sure I had sabotaged all my success from last week with a surprise dinner party I put on for a friend Saturday - a retro themed dinner menu with lots of high calorie items. I've been enjoyiing the leftovers since then. I waited until today to get on the scale again and, somehow, I managed to lose a pound. I'm glad I waited a few days.

Onward and downward (on the scale that is)!

Good morning everyone... wow I have not been on this site in like forever... being that my anniversary is next month(just like yours) I wanted to see where everyone is... as for myself I've been on the same weight for the last 4-5 months.. .not much motion happening, but at least I'm not gaining. I'm down like 74 lbs and I have LOTS more to go! I've been a cheater myself and I still eat lots of breads and sweets(total weakness for me). Let's keep reminding ourselves we took one step forward on changing our weight.. and continue to work on it! wishing everyone success! ♥

On tuesday the doc put in a half cc and i have restriction again and am not hungry in 2 hours.....which makes me super happy. Hopefully this gets me on the right track..and I am forcing myself to go to the gym this week too.

Sounds like you all are doing pretty darn good! I got off to a good start and have lost 10 lbs, but have stalled this week. I need to drink more water!!!! That was key before, it is key now. I need to get back to basics and remember all the tips.

Ok...I will start....DRINK WATER!

Anyone want to tack on some helpful hints????

Well going to the gym ainr happening this week. I have come down with a bug that my niece and nephew kindly gave to me. Nauseated and diarrhea ohh joy. Have been trying to not throw up...not a good thing with the band...so I have been limiting myself to fluids in small amounts...and tonight I had some Campbells chicken and stars Soup and it stayed down and a half piece of toast....God I hate being sick

Well this fill seems to be working. I have decent restriction while still being able to swallow. I weighed myself this morning and I am 207.6. I haven't seem that since January!!! I just hope to keep this momentum going!!! Haven't heard from anyone else, I hope that means everyone is doing well.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
