March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am March 26th too. I started fasting today and almost had second thoughts. I wasn't hungry at all just light headed and have a headache...I can't stand it. I just made sure I ate something every 2 hours. chicken broth, liquids, tea, Protein shake. It helped but all and all it was a rough day. However, it's good to be able to talk about it and explain my feelings. Otherwise I might give up. I am dreaming of the prawn I bought a few days ago. Oh well maybe in a few months in moderation. I did take a nice walk today too. So, I am on the right track, just have to keep pushing. Oh, I also took a hot bath it helped. Good luck to all you March Banders! I am excited for you.

I am scheduled for the 26th also. Did they give you a pre-op diet? I am not on liquids until the 23rd. I am so excited to have this precedure done. Where are you having it done? I am in Ohio. I hope we can stay in touch and lean on each other when we are having a hard time with liquids, etc.

Just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone. I just got a surgery date for March 26th! Looking forward to going through this with people who are in the same boat.

I am scheduled for the 26th also. Do you have a pre-op diet that you have to be on?

I love that rapid blast tylenol. I think it works faster then the pills.

A tip to the next to be banded- bring a small bottle of mouth wash to the hospital. Your mouth will feel like cotton and just swishing & spitting will feel heavenly. This might be contraband in you hospital so keep it in your over night bag and sneak a sip then use tissue to absorb.

Good idea, I will be sure to pack that

My surgery is scheduled for March 17th, I have been on this dreadful pre-op diet for 10 days. I sure would like to have a nice meal the night before surgery. Wonder if this would be okay? The doctor did say nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before.

Jenna, are ya'll gonna have to come to Dallas for fills? If so, I definitely want to meet ya'll for lunch or something down the road!

I will say that my family enjoys going to Shreveport for the casinos, so we'll probably be out your way before long, too.

Nope. I have aftercare set up here locally.

Dallas isn't that far away and maybe once hubby and I fully recover we might can do a weekend in Dallas or something. I definately want to meet!

And Jenna! 14 pounds lost! Is that all since surgery? Keep it up, woman!

Girl! I wish. It is since last Monday when I started my pre-op diet.

No, I don't think that would be a good idea. The reason they want you on Clear Liquids before surgery and nothing to eat the night before is to make sure there is nothing in the way. My doc told me one time he was doing the procedure on a patient and there was whole corn in the way he had to remove first. So I would say don't do it:thumbdown:

Hello all, I'm a March bander as well. March 17th, and I'm Irish so lucky me. Hope everything goes well for all of you. I am not having to do a liquid diet, but the Atkins instead. Eventhough I like most of the food you can only eat so much meat. My God I'm from Texas and I actually said that outloud. Good Luck to all those who are March Banders!!

Why are you not going to Disney World with them? I plan on going in June with all my nephews:thumbup:

I don't get to go to Disney World with the family because I am starting a new job on March 24 (exactly a week after surgery) and I doubt I will be able to get off for 2 weeks that soon after starting. Especially after they put off my start date for a month so I can have this surgery. Didn't I pick a heck of a time to finally find a job?! LOL

But maybe the next time we go see Mickey I will not be worried about fitting in the seats for the rides!

Well think of it as having a vaction away from the kids for awhile, but yes it does suck that you can't go. Are you going to be able to go to work so soon? What kind of job? sit down, etc

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
