March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

Harley - I too am no longer addicted to chocolate, sweets, chips, breads, etc... I just plain do not want them. Sunday night my DH went through Dairy Queen's drive-thru. He and DS got treats, I waited until I got home and had a SF fudge pop. Now that's control.

It feels good, doesn't it?

I do think the reward ratio for resisting/avoiding treats like that should be higher....somehow, I always feel like I should lose because I was particularly good!

First off, I will not forego Breakfast again.

Today I left the house early with no breakfast, and by noon I was famished. I hit McDonald's drive-thru.. Got a crispy chicken wrap and a vanilla cone!! I know, very bad. and the ice cream conbe. boy it was good, and overall the calorie count was not too bad..

As i awas eating i kept telling myself, do not do this, but I was sooo hungery. Afterwards I was sick. too much at one time and wrong choices

I checked MyPLate and the wrap was 320 calories.... 14 gms Protein.< /span>

never again. and I WILL make sure I have breakfast and eat at regular intervals..

All All-- Just checking in. I sounds like a lot of us are in slower modes for different reasons.

It looks like several of us are heading for fills in the next few days. I will go Thurs AM and I hope it gets my weight loss going! I have the same amount in my band (3cc) that I had in early May. I'll be really interested in seeing if others who are getting filled are seeing any improvement in weight loss. I'm eating very well and have been for a really long time--- just not moving down on the scale!

Hi friends. Just a quick but sad note to let you know my stepdad passed away yesterday (Saturday) while I was there with my Mom and I've now experienced probably what so many of you nurses and folks that work in the medical field have but its very emotionally draining. I stayed with my Mom overnight and took her to confirm the funeral arrangements today. At this point I'm running on 36 hours without sleep and I'm going to go crash now. The funeral calling hours will be Tuesday and funeral Wedsnesday so I will covet your prayers and good wishes for my family and my Mom.

Special K - my heart and prayers go out to you and your family at this sad time. Try to rest because you do not want to get sick.

I finally got on the scale again and I am down 45.5 pounds since my surgery. I am working hard at making better choices - I have had 3 fills and sometimes I can still eat a lot if I didn't control myself but I have also had 3 PB eisodes and they were horrible and all 3 x's I was too hungry and ate to fast - 2 of the times with chicken (my favorite food) and 1 x a burger but no bun. It hit me right away and it was a relief to PB is all up.

The weather is finally taken a turn to sun and summer here in MA and I am trying to enjoy it while thinking of getting ready for winter - I need to do some extra caulking & insulating and I am thinking of putting in new energy star windows. My oil budget is prohibitive - $377/month - gee with mortgage & car etc that is a scary amt. The window say a 40% decrease in amt of oil usage. SO what I really need is a roommate because I have 2 rooms I could rent out - anyone have experience with renting out rooms ..... give me any hints and tips.

I hope everyone is still losing....... fast or slow it desn't matter as long as we are losing. I feel like a new woman.... or like the younger thinner woman I once was - It feels good to have clothes fit me without sausaging myself in.

Have a great week......... wish I was going to Paris with Fenton ... that is one of my got to go to places.........

Dear Special--

Yes. It's hard to lose people in your life and really hard to see your parents going through such terrible losses. Emily Dickinson said, "Parting is all we know of heaven and all we need of hell." I totally concur. I will be thinking of you and your mom in these next sorrowful days. I pray you --- peace.

Special K - Sorry to hear about your stepdad. My prayers are with you and your mother.

Rugman - I get a fill on Wednesday. The scales have not moved for me in 3 weeks and I am a little hungry here and there. This is only my 2nd fill. I have never pb'd or slimed, I hope this is not the beginning for me.

I'm off to buy some new clothes for school. (for me, not my kiddo) I am a school librarian and school starts next week. I have put off shopping until the last minute for obvious reasons. I'll get a new small wardrobe only to shrink out of them by Thanksgiving.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
