March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

You're doing grea t...sounds like you have things under control! My doc told me something about a machine like that, but he called it "the magic bullet" blender and he said he got one at wal-mart for about $40 and he loves it! I was going to check it out....

I bought one at penney's for under $30...it's not a "magic bullet", but on off take of them....I LOVE it! Money well spent!

Best of luck to you evelas, and sorry you have to be going through this. You are in my thoughts today:)

So yesterday was my post op.. I was very frustrated at the service I received, but all in all it was a good visit:) I am down 17lbs since surgery, and 25 since February:) I had a couple of stitches that were poking through my skin, and they had to (eeek!) pull them up and snip them off. It wasn't too bad, I was just being a chicken.. My Doc said that he used a new band on me. It comes pre-filled with 3cc's. It has the advantage of the balloon on the inside going all the way around the band, where as the old bands went mostly around, but stopped where the band clipped together. The clip caused erosion in some patients, hence this new band.. When I asked my Doc how much Fluid my band held in all, he said "I'm not sure.. You don't need to worry about that anyway.".. Ok then.. Now I can't even remember the name of the band so I can research it.. I think its VGS, or AVG, or something to that effect. Ring a bell to anyone??

Anyhoo, sorry to ramble, just wanted to share my experience. Hope everyone is doing well out there:)

~Kerri

I have gained 5 pounds back now! im not too happy I am eating less than 1000 calories a day. I was eating 1800 before surgery and was losing a pound a week. Hope the scale soon goes the other direction.

I was going to go walk yesterday and as I was putting my shoes on my hubby says its raining, so no exersize yet.

We had rain here too yesterday, and I made the bold decision to go mall-walking! I felt like I needed to go buy a matching velour running suit and go for my weekly wash'n'set at the salon to fit in with the other mall-walkers. But in the end, I got a mile and a half of good-paced walking in with my MP3 player blasting good tunes!

Hello fellow March bandsters. I was banded on the 19th and I am so frustrated with my rate of weight loss. I have been hitting the gym 5 times a week doing an hour of cardio and my weight loss is minimal. Of course I am weighing myself everyday which probably isn't a good idea. Need support

thanx

Hey, Sharon - I'm not even hitting the gym 5 times a week and *I* am frustrated by my weight loss! I weighed myself today 5 days after my last weigh-in - no change! I've been doing a lot of walking, and my intake has been good.

But I know I'm losing weight - I'm down another belt notch (NSV - yay!), it's just taking the scales a while to catch up.

You and I have to be a little less numbers-centric - the scale will change eventually. If you're eating right and working out, the weight will come off! And if it doesn't, your body has found a way to create energy, which means scientists will come and study you in order to save the world.

Scrappy: are you SURE about your intake there? If your intake is low, and you're as active as usual, you should be burning fat, and that weight gain is probably Water - some kind of hormonal situation I don't even want to THINK about!

I'm, uh, sending positive (but manly! Oh so very manly!) beams to evelas...

Harley! As a motorcycle gear head, I'm surprised the Magic Bullet was enough to satisfy you! I'd have thought you'd need the Oster Professional I picked up, a slab of pure, hulking torque sitting on your counter top. I swear to God, as I made my morning shake this morning, energy waves blasting from my blender knocked a squirrel off a tree across the street!

Kerri! You're making my life of frustration HELL with your over-achieving weight loss since banding!!!

Are you sure you wouldn't like to relax with a nice kruller, let some of that weight creep back on until the rest of us catch up with you?

Saw this on another thread and wanted to share it with you guys....in case you don't find it....some really good stuff. A little of it is kind of over the top...at least for me....I'm not going to contemplate on the chicken's sacrifice as I eat my egg....but as far as eating mindfully and making it count...good stuff!

Well, it does have a lovely chrome base.........I have my gigantic margarita machine when I really feel the need for power!

Whoa, Harley! That CAMP stuff is GREAT! It's exactly what Paul McKenna says - and Jack, too (the part about learning to recognize satiety). Thanks so much for that URL - I'm going to thoroughly explore that.

For me, the hard part about mindful eating is that you can only do one thing at a time: eat. I'm so busy that I feel badly if I'm not multitasking.

There's a TV Show in England called something like KILL EAT, COOK IT, EAT IT where a studio audience is introduced to live animals which are then killed and cooked in front of them. They're then asked to eat the animal, and discuss their feelings about the whole experience.

Interesting.......I will admit that I have a bit of a "head in the sand" approach when it comes to eating meat.....I will also say that I am less and less inclined to eat meat as time goes on. The last debaucle in the beef slaughterhouses about put me over the edge. I think I could, quite easily, be a vegetarian at this point in my life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
