Is there such a thing as 20cc capacity band?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I went for my first fill and the doctor said he put in 8cc. I know for sure that I have a VG band and in the booklet that I have it says that the capacity is 10cc. Anyway, my doc said that my capacity is 20cc. Is there such a thing?

Well, I have no restriction at all. So if my band has a 10cc capacity then I should be really restricted and everything should be getting stuck. Got my fill on Saturday and did the liquids for 48 hrs. After that I had Pasta...never felt full. Nothing got stuck, I had broccoli with that and some corn. As I continued eating real food and nothing happened, I decided to put it to the test. I know that I shouldn't have, but I went to McDonalds and got a double quarter pounder with cheese and some fries. To my surprise I could eat all of it. Where is my restriction?? Inamed claims that my band can only hold 10cc, so at 8cc I should be extremely tight.

HELP!!!!!!!!:confused2:

I haven't heard of one. Anyone know the capacity of a Realize?

The biggest I've heard of is 14cc for the AP large.

If you know for sure you've got a VG and you have the booklet, then you have the manufacturer's suggested capacity. Some doc's will fill over that based on their experience.

Just because you may have near band capacity in the band, does NOT mean you will definitely be restricted. Restriction's totally different for EVERYONE. Our insides are as different as our outsides. For more about band fills and unfills and how it all works, please see Wendell's post about this in the FAQ and References Forum. It's a GREAT reference.

I have the VG and Im currently at 10.5. Within the last week or so Im just starting to feel what I have been thinking restriction would feel like. On some foods I need to take my time or I guess it gets stuck. All of the weight I have lost has been without having any problems eating, most people think its a good thing to beable to eat what you want and still lose, but Im happy to finally be having problems getting things down. Now that I have lost weight its more important to have restriction so that I keep it off.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
