I've just invented a delicious recipe for those of us on the liquid diet.

I took a can of chicken, tossed it in the blender w/ a splash of skim milk and pulsed it until it was liquified. I segmented it into 2oz cups (cuz this is all that I can eat at a sitting right now). I then added a dallop of BBQ Sauce and microwaved it for 15 seconds.

It's super! try it! and there's 15g of Protein in the 2oz of chicken.< /p>

(I'll post this in the food thread as well. but i wanted to share w/ my fellow 3/7's).

Hi, girl I was there looking for you, I had my surgery same day. I had such a great time.... I gave everyone a balloon... Where were u? How are you doing? I have lost 7.8 lbs.. and feeling wonderful...

I was on main floor. I heard about the balloons though from some of the other girls. I think we met your friend that went with you the day before we left, we were all weighing ourselves before we left.

:confused:Also, i have a question for everyone. Isnt "clear liquids" liquids that we can see through? Such as broth, Jello, clear Protein drinks, tea? this is all i've had since procedure. today i had 2 nibbles of some tilapia and licked a spoon that had a cream Soup on it, only because today i woke up feeling really weak. Which after reading what everyone else is eating, i understand why i have no energy.

But even after the clear liquid phase, and we go into the liquid phase, i thought we still couldnt have meats liquified. that at that time we could add Protein shakes, liquified Soups but not meat. but i see others are pureeing chicken. Maybe i'm just paranoid that the wrong food is gonna do something to ruin this.

my daughter is counting down with me to when i can have a Protein shake.

Each and every person has different needs and tolarances. Test things SLOWLY, if it works (goes down w/o pain) and you can tolorate it (dare I say enjoy) than do it. This is the message I get from my Surgeon.

If you aren't ready to move on from clear liq. yet, BE SURE that you get some unflavored protien powder to mix into whatever liquids you are taking in.

Thankfully I only needed clear liq. for 3 days but on the 3rd day I was so weak I nearly feinted - i knew then that my body was ready for something more significant - so I started drinking skim milk and FF Buttermilk.

A day later, I purreed the canned chicken w/ a splash of skim milk and SLOWLY tested it - It WORKED! and let me tell you, the following day was my best day yet. I was peppy, rested, felt stronger and people commented that I was my "old self again".

Protein is so important for recovery and physical/mental health.

I would just add, when in doubt, consult your physician.

You must be referring to Sergio. Isn't he wonderful? I'm surprised we didn't meet. Dr. A banded me on Saturday, the 8th. There were 5 of us scheduled that day and 4 of us ended up on the third floor. Quite impressive up there. The two corner rooms had 42 inch flat panel plasma TV's. I'm so tired of Clear Liquids. How's it going for you? I have lost 11 pounds already. Quite excited about that.

Hey, balloon girl! Is that you Rhonda? How are you doing? We sure missed you when you and Marty left. Wish I could've said good-bye. I was sleeping. Hailey told me you left early. I loved my balloon! I've spoken with Michelle and she says you're doing well. Glad to hear it. I found some cream Soup recipes online for next week. I'm dying to have something other than clear liquids. I'm starting with a creme of broccoli cheese soup. I tried to send you and the others some pictures, but it keeps coming back MAILER DEMON. Don't know what's going on with that. BTW, it's me, Karen.

Hi,

Two weeks post and 15 pounds lighter. Yippee for me. I sure do plan to go to Dr. A for fills. I'm hoping I'll only need one or two since I have the medium sized band and it only holds 5cc. I'm not so sure I would trust anyone else, at least for the first fill. How about you? Will you be going down for fills? I'm thinking I won't have to go until the end of April or the first part of May. My Soups this week were so yummy. Tomorrow I'm making split pea with very tiny pieces of ham left over from dinner tonight that the husband and child get to eat.

Keep in touch. Karen

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
