Well, I am still falling off the "cigarette wagon" a bit but I am down to what I call "halfsies". I smoke a half (3-4 puffs) then put it out. I do this about 2-3 times a day. It starves the headaches off. So all in all I would say it is maybe one cigarette a day equivalent? I still need to put them down all together though. AAAAAARRRRRGH, why can't I just not smoke!! I know this is so important to banding so why can't I do it? I suppose it is good that I have gone from almost a pack a day down to a few puffs a day but geeeeeez, I can't seem to walk away!

Dog update: He is still doing well. He is eating more these days now but he is still very sluggish. He has a hard time with the stairs but he wants to sleep in our bedroom at night. He can't get up on the bed at all now though and just sleeps on the floor on his bed.

Never mind the cigs -- I'm so glad to hear your dog is doing better. If you have a fairly large room and you want to indulge your hound's every whim, you can buy a ramp from a dog catalog like Drs. Foster & Smith so that he can still climb up on the bed without jumping. You are smoking so much less. Congratulations! Can you pick a day to go cold turkey for just 24 hours?

Jenna: The smoking issue is coming along nicely. You are cutting down which in my mind is easier on the system than cold turkey. I did it cold turkey and it was such a shock to my system. IT still hates me hence the weight gain. LOL!

Doggie stuffs: My heart absolutely bleeds for you and what Jeter is going through. Keeping you and the family in my prayers.

Princess, you need to rent Stephen King's, "Cat's Eye" trilogy. There's a short story about a smoking clinic that could scare you to quit! Anyone ever seen it?

I have seen it, a long time ago. Very scary and eerie but then I went out and smoked and the gross feeling just passed me by.

Ummmmm, Penni. Still fighting the good fight! I didn't smoke the whole time in Mexico (4 days) but stress levels pushed me over the edge and I snuck one when I got home. I never ever have more than 3-4 a day though. I am still trying. I need to get more Patches next time I go to Mexico. The patch works I just hate putting it on because of the gross "scum" it leaves from the sticky stuff. It is soooo hard to get off and I scrub my skin raw with alcohol trying to get it off!

But I will NOTTTTT give up the fight! i am going to try again and again every day!

Thanks for asking! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
