Kareyquilts TT, BL, Lipo & BA

Recommended Posts

Great comments! Thanks for the feedback. I just got back from my daughter's wedding. She was married in Sayulita, Mexico. It was a beautiful ceremony. The setting was gorgeous. I am exhausted, but happy that all went well. Of course we had the minor/major mishaps. My son thought I had brought his slacks (part of his groomsmen outfit) and I thougth he could take care of himself. We had to call out hotel and have them go up to our room and pay a taxi to drive them to us (half an hour away). But, hey it all worked out! LOL! I'm going to rest a few days and then I'm going to start some new goals. I start back with my trainer on Wednesday. I little scary after being a way for 2 months. But I feel great and I think I'm ready. Will talk about goals the next time I log in. Hope everyone is doing well!

Congratulations on the wedding turning out so well, Karey! I hope your daughter is very happy.

Good luck getting back into physical training. I know you'll take it easy and work into it gradually. It's great that you're determined to keep going!

I've got to get the photos from the photographer, but I think I will post a few pictures. Just got word that newlyweds had to contend with bed bugs on their wedding night. I guess that will give them some great stories for years to come! LOL.

Hi All,

I have been following this thread and have to say Kareyquilts you look great. I too have had body issues forever and I'm only 36. I will be having a full tt, breast lift, Lipo and butt lift in July and I'm already thinking of other things I would like to have done (thermage, fat injections to cheeks, chemical peels).

I think it's only natural to always see our negatives and miss our positives. I have a problem with this myself but am working had to remedy that. I am pursuing other interests that focus on my mind and not just my body (I'm getting my teaching credential) and I have noticed a big chance in my attitude and self-esteem.

I would like to thank you for sharing your story and being brave enough to post your pictures. I will do the same when I get closer to my surgery.

Thank you.

Ana

I've finally caught my breath after the wedding. Started back with the trainer and pilates. The weight training is easier than the pilates. My new stomach muscles are very weak! I'v lost some strength and am probably lifting 10-15 pounds lighter than before the TT, but I know it will come back. We've got one more trip to see our son perform in Cirque du Soliel in Montreal and then in July I'm going to work VERY VERY hard to get the last 15 pounds off! I want to post some more after pictures and maybe a scar picture since it's been 3 months (can't believe it went so fast!), but since I haven't taken them yet, I thought I'd post a couple pictures of my DD at her wedding.

Sorry about the oversized pictures. I tried to resize them, save them as other formats and couldn't get them smaller. Very frustrating. If anyone can clue me in, I would appreciate it~:confused2:

Thanks for sharing the pictures Karey. Everything looks like it was just perfect. Your daughter is beautiful; she looks like her mom! Wow, Cirque du Soleil. You must be very proud of your son too. Have a wonderful time in Montreal.

Thanks! It was a great wedding. It sounds funny to say you have a son in the circus, but he's awesome. He juggles people on his feet and catches them. He also does a wild trampoline act and something called "banquine" which is kind of like human pyramids, where they jump up and out off each other up to 6 people high. He was our problem child and we're so thrilled that he has found himself. He's wonderful and what he does and loves it. Who could ask for anything more?

karey, the pictures are great. Her new husband remimds me very much of my high school boyfriend. He was half Armenian. Tall, dark and hansome. Your daughter has a resemblance to you, don't you think? Very pretty. I know you're very proud!

I once lived in Montreal. I can't wait to hear about your trip when you get back. It was a couple of the best and most interesting years of my life. We are planning to go back for a visit in a couple of years. I hope you have a grand time. Cirque du Soliel was a very exciting attraction when we were there. It had not yet expanded and gone to Las Vegas. It seems kind of silly to call it a circus these days, but I guess it's the 21st century's version of a circus. How exciting to watch your son perform and realize how strong and in balance he and his life have become.

It's very satisfying to watch your children grow into happy, healthy (and prosperous) adults! And sometimes even STARS! Good job, mom!

Btw, how does one handle bedbugs???

BJean: You handle bed bugs with a sense of humor! Also, put all your things into plastic bags (so the little buggers can't breath) and then when you get home, wash everything in hot Water. If you get bed bugs in your home, you need to take everything apart (they like to hide) and disenfect. In case your mattress in plastic for a while and call the exterminator. Thanks for your positive feedback. I'm off to work out.

That sounds like a colossal pain in the arse, karey. I read somewhere that exotic places are sometimes breeding grounds for that sort of thing and that one needs to be prepared. I guess a spray can of Lysol might do the trick, but I doubt it. And you sure can't fly with a spray can of anything anymore.

You go girl - off to work out and I'm proud of you. It will be pretty hard for a while, but you're involved in the makings of one hot mama!

Well it's been a while since I checked in. Been on vacation and wore a bathing suit without too much trauma. Still need to get the backside done and the legs taken care of and would like to get my arms done too. I will post pictures soon. Feel bloated from my trip. I'm starting the push to get off the final 20 pounds. They just didn't come off after my surgeries. I'm back to exercising full strength and feeling much much better. Some of my fellow September bandsters are in the same boat and we've started a thread to challenge ourselves. If you can give us some encouragement, then please visit our new thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f109/kareyquilts-mimin-ghost-bjean-final-push-67785/#post904326 I really will post some pictures soon. Have a great July!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
