I can see my ribs!!!

Recommended Posts

I had my lap-band surgery just over a year ago, and am down almost 90 pounds, with between 60-80 left to go. Today I was at the store trying on bras since none of my old ones fit, and when I lifted my arms to make sure everything stayed put, I can see my rib cage!

I know most people would look at me like I was crazy for thinking this was a big deal, but I really wanted to share because I can't remember the last time this happened! I'm at my lowest weight in at least 8 years based on clothing sizes (I never used a scale until about 5 years ago) and am only going to go down from here.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with people who would understand.

AWESOME! Congratulations!

I have seen my ribs in x-rays, so I am theoretically convniced that I have some, but I do look forward to more tangible proof!

WTG!

I know how you feel! I lay in bed in the morning just touching my rib cage! My husband laughs because I take his hand and run it down the the sides of me and tell him "see, I really do have ribs!"

I do the same thing. DW hasn't caught me doing it, but it's amazing. I also feel alot more muscle under there than ever before. And I played football throughout hs and jr college.

Congrats on the nsv, loridee! Feels great doesn't it

Congrats, great NSV! I don't think it's crazy at all to make a big deal about it (because it is a big deal), it's these crazy NSV's that help us get our confidence back and feel good about what we have accomplished.

I can feel mine when I'm laying down, but I can't see them yet.........I'll be sooo excited when I can!

My husband is fascinated with my shoulder bones. They just recently started showing and he's constantly feeling them. Almost as if he expects them to disappear at any moment. It sure does feel good to see your body change and improve. Congrats on those ribs!

Thats gotta be exciting! Its just one of the many thing I can't wait for. I'm not banded yet but hopefully will get my approval soon. I keep looking at old pictures of me and I'm like...dang, I used to actually have a chin and cheekbones! In no way do I wanna be a skeleton but I would like to see the way my body is shaped underneath all this gloop...LOL! Congrats to all you guys that are doing well :tt2:

Mine likes my hip bones! I tend to feel around to all my new found body parts! It's exciting, isn't it?

This is kinda funny, I kept rubbing the "lump" between my breasts and finally had the nerve to ask my husband to feel it. I said, "Honey, I think something's wrong. I have this lump here." He put his hand there and laughed...."Honey, that's your breast bone!" LMAO! I hadn't felt that there in so long that I forgot all about it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
