well i have 5.3 cc's in a 10 cc band. on friday they tried to put another .2 cc's and i couldnt swallow water! they said that was the smallest amount they could put,and since i wasnt able to tolerate Water they took the .2 cc's out and kept me back at 5.3 ,they said it will be up to me to eat no more than a cup because they cant add any liquid , im a little disapointed,i have gained 2 pounds and i am more hungry than before but they say they cant do anything about it .

So if .2cc's was too tight why didn't they remove .3cc's and then put .2cc's back in? That way you would have only a net increase of .1cc.

I am at 10cc in a 14cc Realize Band and think that this fill is a good one for now. I will see my doctor again in two months and we will determine if he needs to tweak me a little. I lost almost 20 pounds between September and January of this year and I am happy with that weight loss. I am actually down quite a bit more but need to change my tracker eventually.

I have a 14cc band and on Saturday 01/09/10 .02cc was added making it a total of 6.4 cc. I felt restriction b4, but the Dr. said to put in a little because I lost 30lbs since 09/09 and I'll probably won't see him again for another 3 months and the band will/should loosen by then if not sooner. Been on liquids and mushies since Sat. Hopefully I be able to eat again solids soon. I just hope I didn't over do it!

I have 8.5 cc in my 14cc band. At the time of surgery my doctor put 8cc in the band and I have just had one fill (.5) so far. I go on the 19th for a visit to see if I need a fill. I went in December for a fill and they told me that I had good restriction and did not need a fill. They did not want me to be too tight. I've lost 57 pounds so far I guess that is not bad for someone who was banded on 7/29/09.

I have not felt hunger or starving at this point, I find myself going 4-7 hours without eating sometimes. I will see if I have lost any weight Tuesday. If I have not lost any weight, I know for sure that I have lost inches. My clothes are real loose on my.....I need smaller clothes!!!! Who would have thought I would be saying that since I've been obese all of my life!!!!! :w00t:

I was banded in Sept. I have had 4 fills and currently have 7cc's in a 14 cc band. I do not have good restriction yet. My last fill was a week ago. I go back in a month. I am begining to worry. I have only lost 23 pounds since surgery. Any suggestions? I feel I am failing. I have been maintaining my weight for the last 2 months.

Don't feel too bad. I also have a 14cc band and didn't start feeling good restriction until I had 7.5 - 8cc's. I'm at 10.75 now. I'm sure by your next visit - you will start feeling it more - in the meantime, start adding exercise to your week and it will help.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, my next fill will do the trick. I just started excerising. I bought the wii fit plus, it is alot of fun.

hey all! I've had my 4th fill now and I'm at 8.2 in my 14cc band....we thought the last fill i was at 7.5, but when he removed all of the liquid today i was actually at 7.8! I had to eat a lot slower but could still eat a decent amount..no where NEAR like before that fill but i can already feel the difference....

I have been right about all of my fills so far and I've been saying that 8cc's is my magic number...so now that i'm at 8.2 i'm so excited to see how it goes! I've been at a standstill forever, it seems...dropped most of my weight just after surgery and now i'm finally starting to drop again (only down 2 since my last visit in december)....

this is the good one though! I feel it! I'll update soon!

I was banded on 12/2/09 with a 14cc band. I have currently 6 cc and feel no restriction. I go to the Dr. on Thursday and hope he will give me a fill. I try not to get down on myself but it feels so much like a diet now and not a lifestyle change. I still want to eat and if I sat long enough and drank enough liquid with a meal I think that I could eat a normal meal again....I am so ready for the band to start working for me like so many others have said. I have lost 37lbs so far so probably should not be complaining. Just ready for a little help from the band.

Um, I don't know about your doctor but mine do not allow drinking with a meal. Typically no drinking for at least half an hour before and half an hour after a meal. Otherwise you are washing the food through too fast and not getting the benefits.

Just wanted to give a little update. Since my last fill in mid January I have lost 5 lbs. The Dr. did not want to give me a fill on Feb. 18th. The office is 2 hours from my house so I talked him into a little one. .1cc I now have a total of 7.1 cc in my 14cc band. I dont feel any different. I am so thankful the scale finally moved.

Well I had great restriction at 7.1cc in my 14cc band. Went to the Dr. today because of a lot of gas pain and bloating. They did the worst thing possible - they emptied my band. They don't believe the band was causing the problems but to be on the safe side they emptied me. Great - I had just lost another 5 lbs. I go back March 30th. If I don't have improvment in a few days they are going to do a CAT scan. How heart breaking to finally start succeeding and have to go back to square one.:scared2:

I have 8.6 cc in my 14 cc band and finally I started to feel some restriction. I started drinking Protein smoothies to increase my protein levels. buybulkwhey.com: Bulk whey Protein Powder on sale! I also increased my exercising to 3 times a week (just walking). I only lost 33 lbs since my 09/22/09 surgery...it is a start. The key is PROTEIN!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
